There is nothing worse than seeing a massive spider web on a trail at the last second and hitting it face first.

13.5 @ 9:10 this morning. Nice easy pace.

Side rant: my training plan called for 12.5 today. Who the hell makes a plan for 12.5 when they know damn well that any runner that goes 12.5 is automatically going to go ahead and get at least 13.1? Jerks...

M: OFF
Tues: 4
Wed: 6 (Lakefront grass. HOT HOT HOT)
Thurs: 4
Fri: 3
Sat: 6 (Spillway trail. Eaten alive)
Sun: 9 (Lakefront Grass)

Total: 32 miles

Drop down week over. Next 5 weeks will build up to 24 mile long run (34 for the weekend). Feeling healthy, so may add a few intervals.

Will try and run the BR trails and St. Francisville trail at least once. Time to get serious.

Drop down week for me is ending today also. Ran 6 miles before work and it just didn’t feel like anything...would have gone further if I had the time.

Would it be bad to get a few more miles in this evening after work?

Hello fellow runners. What's the length limit for this thread?

I love running, but due to knee injuries, I can't run as long as I'd like too. I find it much less stressful on my knee when I am taking long strides. Therefore I have found a passion for 5Ks. My goal is to run sub 20. I also want to slowly build up to 10k which I think might be my limit. I would like to ultimately run under 7min/mile for a 10k.

Cool thread idea, but I dont want to be the only lame guy going under a half marathon.

Had a good week with my schedule.

Tuesday: 3 miles @ 8.25

Thursday I did 5.5 miles. Was in St. George, Utah and found a trail. Didn't have the correct shoes for it so only did 2.5 miles on the trail and 3 miles on the road. Trail terrain got me and I was over 9 minute pace, but did scenery was beautiful.

Tonight I got in 2.5 miles @ 8.05 pace. Weather is still rough here at night. Was 104 at 8pm.

Have a 4 mile and 6 mile run scheduled for next week. So should be fun.

All are welcome.

I’m not a marathoner by any means. Outside of some trail 50ks and speedy hikes I have no desire to ever do a true road marathon.

I didn't make the thread, but no limit that I know of. Those are great goals. I've accepted my fate as I reach mid-40s that I'll never be a whole lot faster than I am now. But I still plan to get under 20 for 5k. Haven't hit teens, since...my teens.

Depending on the course (crowds and time of year), I can break 50 in a 10k. I want to do it in the Cooper River Bridge Run. My best is 50:23. I was in crap shape then. I just don't do that distance much any more.

Anyway, if you hit your goals, you won't be kicked out.

I got 10k in this weekend. Probably should have woken up at 6 instead of running at 4. Plan was an easy pace, but even at 10:30 per mile, it felt like death. Legs and lungs felt okay, just so damned hot. I can normally run 10k without water, but drank 1.5 bottles on this run and still dropped 2 lbs on the scale (weighed before and after)

I'm just now transitioning back to distance... nothing more than 10k races all summer, so I'd say all distances/goals are welcome ITT.

Big guy checking in here. (6’-1”, 230 currently - down from 242 at the end of July) Training for the Dopey Challenge in Jan at WDW. Ran a 7 miler on Sat at a 10:30 Pace with a little Run / walk / run mixed in. Maintenance runs on Tuesday and Thursday with weights and elliptical mixed in during the week. 9 miler coming up this Saturday.

Following the Galloway Dopey program.

6AM traffic at the BR lakes really picked up this weekend. Was dead 2 /3 weeks ago.

Good luck everyone.

Thank God it's not for just marathoners. A few bouts of tendinitis and IT band syndrome has pretty much gotten rid of any chance of that for me

I've had my fights with this as well. But have held it under control through the rigors Ironman training with some specific exercises.

My tendonitis was in the Achilles and eccentric heel drops and some Theraband strengthening exercises got me through.

The IT band stuff went away with some stretching, foam rolling, and strengthening of the glutes. The glute stuff supposedly even helps out with the Achilles issues.

Not saying one should jump into marathon training, but that a little strength training helps those nagging injuries more than one would think.

if you have IT band issues you need to be doing bridges daily

Cool, cool.

I am planning on running the Tiger 10K on 12/2/18 and then the Crescent City Classic. Those are pretty much my only planned races right now. 5Ks are always pretty easy to just sign up for without a ton of prior training as long as I am constantly running.

I have run in the 22s multiple times in 5Ks over the last year or so. None of those were with a ton of previous running, so I am confident I can get down into the 21s and 20s with constant running. Breaking 20 will be tough though.

Right now I am consistently running 3 days a week. I want to transition into more of a formal plan. I'd like to do 1 day "long distance" (pretty much anything 4 miles or up for me), 1 day sprint work, and 1 day just run a 5k and hope to just get progressively faster.
