Suunto Spartan Sport HR and I use a TomTom HR strap. I really like the native Suunto App and I only joined Strava because of this thread.

I like the look of Suunto a lot.
Unlike my shoes, gels, running caps, etc, I don’t ever feel the need to look for a new watch. My Garmin 230 gets a full week and a half on a charge even when I’m running 5-6 days a week. I still haven’t gotten the HR strap paired. Need to look at that.

My left knee is still giving me shite. Haven’t run in over a week. I think it’s patellar tendinitis.
I had that about 11 years ago. a PT got me right and I (knock on wood) hadn't had any problems since.
short term:
foam roll your quads and IT bands 15 minutes 3x day
stretch hamstrings, calfs, hip flexors 5 minutes every 2 hours
long term:
you have a muscle imbalance some where, typically quads(mine was glutes). work on core muscles, abs and glutes. Start doing some pilates.

My 15 year old can easily smoke me in anything 5k or less, so I've been making him run longer races with me.
I am still undefeated by my kids when I am actually racing them.
Injury rehab is coming along. Lots of stretching, foam rolling and icing along with light jogging, some walking, some pool jogging and elliptical. Hip flexor is feeling better this week so I think I will run four easy tomorrow. I find I can run four easy without issues, but running 5 at normal pace caused some pain. As soon as it is not so cold I think I will be fine.

What is everyone's pain tolerance or thinking when it comes to minor aches and pains? I wouldn't say after every run but on probably 50% of my runs I'll have some slight aggravation in my knee, ankle, etc. Nothing that lasts longer than a day typically, or impedes my running. I guess my question is do y'all always run pain free or do y'all experience aches and pains every now and then? When do y'all shut it down?

I shut it down after a week of continuous knee pain. I was out for about a month. This was a year ago and it was due to overuse I think. I had just run a marathon and tried to jump back into a training plan to squeeze another one in that month.

Same here. I've had my 230 for almost 3 years now (March 2016) and it's as good now as it was the day I bought it. I could give a fig about the HR monitor/strap. I did have to replace the band once. But I can nearly get 2 weeks on a charge, but my OCD won't let it get down past about 30% battery, so it's more like a week and a half. I don't ever take this watch off either. Zero desire to upgrade to anything else.

Typically have run through small stuff that really doesn't feel like anything serious, but when you can just tell something isn't right, it's different. I could tell my Achilles wasn't right last year and saw someone. Stopped and it didn't interrupt the races I had planned.
During a run this past December, I had some knee pain that wasn't normal aches. Ran through it for 2 more miles. Stopped, called myself a pussy, then tried again and got .5 miles. That hurt me for a week, then escalated to me taking 5 weeks off an missing my race. Should have realized something wasn't right that day and just stopped at the first sign. Might have been the difference between 1 week off vs 5.

When an injury is nagging over an extended time and it's bothersome to keep you from running or if stretching and ice can't fix it, it's a problem. But that's just me. If I'm hobbling around outside of sore muscles, I think something's up. I think sometimes you know.
As I'm getting older, I do experience some minor aches more frequently but nothing lasting outside of muscle soreness. I need about 10-20 good steps to work out the stiffness of my feet and ankles in the mornings nowadays.

I’ve got some aches and stiffness most days
I definitely feel I have a better run if I’m able to run in the afternoon when things are a bit loosened up

Started easy running last weekend after IT band issues. 2 miles, then 3, building up to 5 on the weekend. Felt something funny in the knee on that 5 mile run and cut it at 4.9, but it was barely anything and was just being super careful. 2 miles yesterday after a bike ride with no pain at all. So I tried 6 miles today. Super easy. Again with the slight tightness at 4 miles, but there were no lingering issues after last time, so I went a little further and finished up the run. As I sat down for dinner, it flared back up as bad as ever. Im screwed. Already took 5 weeks off. Another 5 weeks buts be 3 weeks out from my taper for a 70.3
. Looks like I'll be running a half marathon on no run training.
Good thing is even after 5 weeks off, it was extremely easy to run 6 miles+ from a cardio perspective (biking and swimming helps). I'm just going to have to grit it out in that race.
So definitely ignore my post from earlier about pains and aches. I have no clue what I'm doing anymore.

Hair under 10.5 tonight. No injuries but sprints and squats yesterday have my legs screaming at me. Got it in less than an hour and a half which is good for my fat self.
I also officially hate my NB 1080s. I don’t know wtf is wrong with them lately, but they are rubbing me raw.
ETA: sorry about the injuries baws. I feel like an arse complaining about just sore legs and blisters.

Just curious, does anybody do anything kinda non traditional for recovery/longevity like compression, cryo, sauna etc?

Garmin 920XT. It's a hand-me-down from my triathlete sister.
My older 910XT (also a hand-me-down) just stopped working one day and it never would turn on again. Had been working fine up to that point.

I use air relax recovery boots. Bought a used pair for a good price. Will put them on before bed on days with a hard workout. Got them because my old coach had Normatec boots I'd use every once in a while and they felt awesome. Normatec is definitely nicer than air relax (better settings/programs/pressure adjustability). But Normatec is like 1200 compared to 400 for Air Relax, and I paid 200 for the used ones (christmas gift to myself).
