Ran a taper run yesterday before LA Half (still haven't decided what pace I am going out at or what my goal is) 6.2 @ 8:16 avg pace. Took my dog with me for the last 4
I was supposed to pace someone but he has Saints tickets and going to game instead.
So now depends on weather on how much I want to push, thinking will play it by ear and go by feel

I only run with my Garmin watch, and never with my phone. When I get home, I get notices, almost simultaneous, that my run can be viewed on both Strava and Garmin Connect app. The Garmin Connect app reflects the splits on my watch. Not sure how the hell Strava is calculating splits. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, just a bit puzzling is all.
Strava is picking up an exact copy of garmin data because that’s where it gets it from. Your splits should be identical. Garmin sometimes is kinder if you pause than Strava but for the most part they mirror one another.

I actually wouldn't mind getting a trail specific running shoe that can shed water quickly. Looking at the NB minimulus only because most trail running I do is 6-10k in Xterra races
I run a lot of rocky terrain and prefer the trail shoes. sometimes it’s fun to wear street shoes as I feel you do get more speed but it’s a lot more loosy goosy on tight turns and rock climbs. There’s one really treacherous section I run on that I feel like I’m going to die if I try it without some grip.
I almost bought the merrell trail glove which is similar to the minimus, but I plan on some half marathons in the future and I want the cushion. They’d be fun for some light trail running.

I think I’m on my 8th pair of Merrell trail gloves. Great shoe

My Flyknits come in today and tomorrow I get to start running again. It's like Christmas, haha. For those who have the standard flyknits and the 4%, how noticeable is the difference. Do you really see the increased performance of the 4%? Other sites I've read gush over them and the times they put up. Where to the regular flyknits fall in comparison? Improved time, but not as substantial? Or is it more of a train in the flyknit to get used to the shoe, but run in the 4% to get the true time benefit?

that is what i've been given the impression of. i'm a staunch nike hater (not political, i promise) so i'll never know, but most people just use the 4% for races, but the build is the same from the flyknit so the feel should be the same.
i'm sure you'd want to run a few miles in them before a race for a little break in.

You guys are making me look into these Nike shoes.
I'm still running in my Newtons that are missing a front lug
Feels weird when I run on gravel or something, but not really noticeable on concrete/pavement

Also, yesterday the weather for my trail race in the morning was predicted to be 100% heavy rain.
Now they rain is supposed to be done by race time, just super windy, wet and cold.
So either way it's going to be miserable.
Yay.
Love trail races.

I own both
I train in the Flyknit and race in the 4%
The difference between the 2 is the foam
The 4% has Zoom X foam which is much softer, I do find better performance in them. One of the main differences is the amount of effort between the two. The 4% foam helps your legs to go longer without fatiguing (they are more "springy").

But do you see an improvement from say a shoe like the Pegasus to the zoom fly flyknit without making the huge jump to the 4% pricing

So I just finished my first run in my Zoom Flys, and I’ve owned the 4% for a few months
They feel very similar around your foot, but feel very different under foot IMO. The 4% feel very springy, and actually feel weird if you’re just walking in them. The Zoom Fly felt quick today (I plan for them to be my speed training shoe) but noticeably not as quick to me as the 4%. Perhaps some of that is placebo but they definitely feel different under your feet.

They are basically the same frame as the 4%s, but much heavier and without the Zoom foam, which gives the 4% the crazy explosive bounce you feel when running in them. They and the Peg Turbos are about the same weight, but the ride of the shoe will be completely different. The Peg Turbos have the zoom foam, but do not have the carbon plate. Overall, if you are looking for a pure racing shoe, buy the 4%. The others are super expensive anyway and the extra $100 is worth it IMO.

catching up on this thread, am I in the minority with only using one pair of shoes for running?
I do the same thing... I ran in exclusively one pair of Merril's for about a year, then I got some Mizuno's and I run exclusively in those now. The last few pages are making me feel like I am not doing it right.

Another difference in the turbo from the 4 is that the turbo uses a combination of ZoomX and React foam. One stacked upon the other.

All this shoe talk made me susceptible when I saw a FB ad for a pair of Kinvara 9 for $59.99. They arrive in a week. Thanks a lot, guys.
My Samsung Gear is WAY off from my Strava and even Samsung Health. It's much slower as I run than when it recaps afterwards. And neither have matched with my chip time in races.
When the watch dies I will probably go with a Garmin.

Exactly this!!!

I haven't ran in the Pegasus, but I can tell a big difference in performance between the Flyknits and the 4%
In my opinion, it is worth the extra money if you are wanting to get the most out of your own performance

So am I the only one that has the problem with race shirts never fitting?
I normally wear a L in shirts. But it seems like L in race shirts are always too big. So then I’ll get a M next race and it will be tiny. It’s such a guessing game.
I have a million race shirts and none of them seem to fit me.

I have the same problem. It used to be an easy decision to get a large race shirt. I dropped 15 lbs and started getting mediums. Sometimes they are fine, but just as often are too small. And they almost never let you exchange for a different size because they've pe-ordered everything based on runners' size selections. Considering I often will pick a race based on the shirt, it's annoying.

Every single time. Too tight in a medium, large is huge. Every single time.
