catching up on this thread, am I in the minority with only using one pair of shoes for running

Ain’t nothing wrong with that. I’m a collector. And I like being able to say that I got a good deal and get a lot of miles out of my shoes then swap them for another pair. But that’s me. Other people buy fancy cars, boats, whatever. I don’t judge.

8 miles of hills tonight. Pretty happy with overall effort, couple of miles with the steep hills I wasn’t happy with that resulted in over 8 minute pace but content overall.

Took some unwanted breaks but I crossed a lot of streets.

Back in Arizona this week for work. Did about 4.5 miles around these trails this morning. About 90 minutes north of Phoenix in Prescott. Weather was shite, but was a good time.

Congrats 4444. What's on the schedule for 2019?

2018 had a marathon and five 70.3’s so I plan on taking it a little easier this year

Right now I’m regustered for Choo 70.3 in May, Augusta 70.3 in September and the Loupe Garou 40 mile train run in December. I’m likely going to race a lot more shorter stuff this year and work on getting more “fit”.

What's your opinion on these?
Have some friends who have them. Most say they find them a comfortable, but slower shoe. Especially compared to the Zoom Flyknits and Vapors with the carbon plate

They are certainly not the 4%s, but they have a lot of pop than other comparable shoes I've run in. I've seen a lot of triathletes racing in them because they still have some cushion for the speed you get out of them. I am able to get mine 50% off so for $90 I am a lot more excited about them than I would be for $180. I really like them though. Really good tempo shoe. I have not run in the Zoomflys to be able to compare.

Noticed one dude in the the Strava group getting hellacious climb elevation on his track runs.

When I picture what that track would look like to get a grand in 6 miles, it makes me chuckle. That would be a fricking epic quarter.

Get the diamond league to hold a meet there. Lol.

So I’ve added in strength training and now my runs are all about a minute slower per mile. Things are not going well the past two weeks especially as I keep a closer eye on my heart while base building.

How long should I expect to suck while adjusting to weight lifting?

I’m not doing much. Lunges, OHP, and bent over rows on Tuesday. Squats, deadlifts, bench on Friday. Nothing heavy. No more than 3x5 for each exercise. Pulls ups and dips each day.

It’s a .34ish mile track loop around a football stadium that dips down at the opposite end has a steady climb on the back straight. For the 6.2 I did 18 laps so I guess it calculates the 60 ft incline times the 18 laps. It’s flattest thing I can find around here besides an actual high school track. But they keep all of those around me locked.

I never noticed until recently, but my splits on Strava vary a good bit from my Garmin. I always assumed they were relatively close, since Strava pulls the data from my Garmin, but I guess I was wrong. I've had some recent splits that were as much as 10 seconds off. I'm going to run with my phone (Strava app) and my Garmin this weekend and see how that plays out. Anyone else experience this?

Do you use a 3rd party app to pull the information from the garmin to strava. I’ve noticed that with the garmin connect app. If I have that app on while I’m running, sometimes strava will load that information rather than the info from my watch.

I only run with my Garmin watch, and never with my phone. When I get home, I get notices, almost simultaneous, that my run can be viewed on both Strava and Garmin Connect app. The Garmin Connect app reflects the splits on my watch. Not sure how the hell Strava is calculating splits. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, just a bit puzzling is all.

Any insight into why you feel your runs are slower? Are you sore from the workouts and that’s slowing you?

That’s awesome! I wish I could get elevation like that on my runs. I need about a 60 footer to get a hill repeat run in.

that's freaking nuts. i'm used to my track runs giving me about 20 foot of elevation on a 4 mile run.

Yea it’s not a normal track, it goes around the whole stadium. Once you get around to opposite side, the field is about 2 or 3 feet above your head.

I'm not judging. I have a bike for every day of the week.

I actually wouldn't mind getting a trail specific running shoe that can shed water quickly. Looking at the NB minimulus only because most trail running I do is 6-10k in Xterra races.

Well my Garmin this morning said I was hitting a 160 threshold heart rate at an 11:00 pace. 11:00 pace is slower than my long run pace that I can hold for 11+ miles easily.

I definitely was last weekend but it didn’t affect me as bad as it did today. I’m not sore at all...just tired I guess.
