Awesome Scooby!

Quiver includes
Zoomfly 1
Zoomfly Flyknit
Escalante
Go Run 6
Sense Ride

After using the second Flyknit, I can’t really believe the first one is being sold still. Anyhow, yesterday was my last speed session in them. Now I’ll just use them for jogging because they’re flat at 170 miles.

Current Lineup:

Newton Gravity
New Balance Beacon
Nike Peg Turbo
Nike Zoom Fly
Nike Zoom Fly Flyknit

The $80.00 deal on the Nike zoom fly flyknit that somebody mentioned above is a great deal. I sort of took a flyer on my Peg Turbos, got a pretty good deal off of ebay. I'd heard some people describe the Peg Turbos as the holy grail of running shoes, the perfect mix of speed and cushioning. I'm not so sure I'm as in love with them as some people. Still undecided, may need to do a review in the shoe thread at some point.

I’m very interested in those Beacons if I don’t love my GoRun 600s in the regular rotation. I’ve heard nothing but good things

When I was in my zero-drop phase I had more of a rotation. I still have a pair of Merrill Road Glove and a pair of Trail Glove, that I use for cycling now. I used to love the Vibram Five Fingers, both road and trail. LOVED the Kinvaras too.

Now that I am in my motion control, supportive phase, I am pretty much exclusively running in Asics Cumulus 19. I also have some Mizuno Wave Riders that are just good for walking now.

Obviously, I need to up my shoe game.

I recently got a pair of Beacons and really enjoy them. Reviews have said you can use for a wide variety of runs, but I have used them almost exclusively on my longer runs. Very little time needed to break them in, which is a plus. That's one of my knocks on some of the other popular shoes like the Ghost. If I was to run marathon distance today, it would be with these shoes. I'm a bit of a NB fanboy, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

What's your opinion on these?
Have some friends who have them. Most say they find them a comfortable, but slower shoe. Especially compared to the Zoom Flyknits and Vapors with the carbon plate

I’m a NB homer so not needed.

I've been surprised at how much I like this shoe. It's a simple shoe - basically a no-frills upper on a block of fresh foam. But they work. 6 mm drop with a weight of about 7 ounces, which is super lightweight for what I would call a cushioned shoe. They just feel good on the feet. I think they're a pretty versatile shoe, too. For me, I'll use them on easy pace days - probably in the 6- 10 mile range. Nice cushioning but not so much to bog you down. Only potentially negative thing I might say is I don't know how durable they'll be. I don't know for sure, but I get the feeling that the foam won't hold up well beyond that 250 mile mark. But that's just my hunch at this point, so we'll see.

I did see a recent youtube review in which the guy had 200+ miles on his. He said he didn't notice any considerable difference in the run, and noted that the shoe itself showed little external wear. I know there are a lot of factors involved in shoe wear, but it's my experience that NB seldom give me more than 250 good miles. Worth noting that I'm on the lighter side, have a soft stride, run almost exclusively on pavement, and have a separate shoe for running in wet conditions.

PHB... I can't hardly look at your runs on Strava. My body starts going into hypothermic shock thinking about running along a river in central Arkansas in January.

i'm at 260 with my NB 1080 fresh foams. and they show no sign of breaking down. a lot of people criticize that shoe, but it's for the upper and not the foam itself and i tend to agree. i've never had a lower problem with them except for some lacing issues (i tried to lace them differently last week and they rubbed a blister, fixed and no issues on a run yesterday with them.)

both my ghosts and my nbs are at 250 and have a lot of heel collar wear (see below) but the lower on both are still holding up well.

Haha yeah, you sort of get used to it but sometimes it's just not fun at all when the wind really gets going.

Btw, are you training for an upcoming race? You've been putting in some good runs on Strava.

No, not really. Just trying to maintain the mileage that would make a potential jump to marathon training not so difficult. For the most part, I run my own schedule at my own paces. However, I know I'm going to get that desire to run faster once you guys start posting your Spring race results.

Been considering trying to find a spring half to run.

Have 14 miles scheduled for Sunday, longest run since my marathon 2 months ago.

When is your next marathon? Would a half replace one of your tempo days?

catching up on this thread, am I in the minority with only using one pair of shoes for running?

I have one pair I use for running. When I rotate it out, it goes to the trail running/ workout shoe. Then it rotates to the knock around and yard work shoe.

I guess you could say I have 3 or so but it's the same model.

Haven’t signed up yet, did consider though with that sweet medal. Also been considering LR since it’s much earlier and will give me more time before my race.

Race is 5/26. Not sure how a half would fit in with training. Perhaps I could replace a long run.

Weather looks a little better for y'all on Sunday. Still looking windy here. Although it may be getting better. It was showing 20-30 mph last night. 15-20 now. Hoping the worst comes through Sat night, but we'll see.

My current lineup is:

Adidas Solar Boost - Long/Easy
Brooks Ghost 11 - Long/Easy
Altra Escalante - Speed/Tempo
Nike ZF FK - Race

Still wanting to try out the Escalante Racer.

Right on. I think the half is March 30 if that helps. Little Rock is the first week in March?
