Good news on your knee, man. How was the traffic coming in?

I was coming from the LSU area so I just took Nicholson. I think everyone figured it was going to be cancelled and didn't show up though. They had parking a block from the start line, it was dead.

I gotcha. Yeah I’m gonna take Nicholson in tomorrow also. Hopefully easy in/out.

That sucks. Good to hear about the knee. How'd you rehab it? Or was it just rest?

Bad form and overuse led to a weak hip flexor, runners knee and ITBS so I started doing core work, hip strengthening exercises, yoga and cycling as cross training.

The old Cascadia 2s coming out of retirement after 5 years. Let’s get it.

Sorry about the south LA runners. That sucks. That band of storms came through up here around 3 am last night and they were rough. It blew one of my lawn chairs into my neighbors yard over my fence...

Speaking of form, I think I’m going to spring the few hundred bucks in the coming weeks and have a gait analysis done. Just preventative/information gathering.

I need to get a couple treadmill runs in first though, because it feels unnatural to run on a treadmill for the most part. I feel almost claustrophobic. For instance, when I went and had VO2 Max testing done, I ripped the chord out of the treadmill where the mask plugs in. My hand hit it. I hate it.

VO2 Max testing done

I want to do this. I've estimated I'm 57- 58 and the reason I haven't pulled the trigger is that my test will come back the same.

I'd be so pissed to spend a couple hundred just for them to say the same. Did your estimates come close to your result?

Maybe not the exact number, but my training zones were pretty much what I expected and that’s what I was after anyway. My VO2 was 46.7, but like I mentioned I ripped the thing out half way into it, so he admitted it may be skewed. He gave me a free one because of that. Probably go to that and Dexa scan again soon also.

Snow on the ground here. Was there where you ran Burt?

Yeah, but it was earlier (5am) so I was getting pelted in the head by tiny little 30mph ice pellets. All things considered, pretty nice run.

I did not get the pleasure of running in this.

Well that was awful.

Time: 1:36:14

My PR on this course is 1:22

1st place normally is around 60 min, but today 1st place was 1:10. Just to give you an idea of how the course ran.

Just pure muddy slop. And that was thr dry areas

Running is weird.

After a few bad weeks of running and a good leg workout at the gym yesterday, I fully expected to hobble through another run this morning.

Started at a super easy pace going by feel and the watch said 10:15 at one mile (super easy the past few weeks has been pushing 11:30). Decided to push it just a little bit thinking about that workout and the long run yesterday and hit 9:00 miles for miles 2, 3, and 4.

Heavy downpour and a big puddle led to the bottom of my foot hurting and I slowed way down for the last mile.

Didn’t even feel that phased by it. Just all of sudden I’m back to normal?

Anyways, 33 miles for the week. 35 scheduled for next week.

So, I did my 22 mile run on a treadmill at my gym today. I tried to think of a different way, but there was just no good way around it with this front that came through. Rain and 20+ mph winds in the morning with dropping temps and snow later in the day. I’ve got stuff going on the rest of the weekend so it was today or nothing.

Anyway, it wasn’t quite the hell I thought it was gonna be. I got to watch several sporting events on tv. And I brought a full change of clothes to change into real quick at the halfway mark so I wouldn’t be so filthy disgusting to everyone else there. All said, I hope I don’t have to do that again any time soon though Now it’s on to the 2-week taper

I saw that; man 3 + hours on a treadmill is dedication! Good job.
