I got mine in. Hope to spend the rest of the day laid up watching football. I’ve caught whatever damn cold that’s been going around. May take a rest day tomorrow.

Gonna try to run the year this year and stay healthy. I finished with about 1600 for 2018, so seems reasonable. If I meet that goal, I should set new PRs at all levels in the process.

Cheers to 2019 everybody

Thanks! 1221 since joining Strava in July so I figured 2400 was attainable.

It'll be a slow start to the year though. Taking a couple of weeks to cross train and drop the miles so I can get out of being over trained.

You guys are assholes. I was going to sit on my arse all day then I look at this and y’all are out there so I went and got in a smooth 23 minute 5K.

Happy New Year’s Day!

Did someone recommend a headlamp or handheld lamp in here?

My post from a couple weeks back.

"If any of you guys are early morning/late evening runners, and are looking for a solid headlamp, I'm linking the one I recently started using. It's a pretty solid buy. A little more expensive than your standard $20-$30 headlamp, but well worth it. Stays well in place and has a flashing red lamp in the back to give you more visibility."

Thanks for the replies. Is that one heavy?

I needed one this morning so I grabbed a $20 rechargeable one at Walmart and used it. I kinda enjoyed running that early.

It's not as light as some of the front only headlamps, but not so heavy as to disturb your run. It's pretty well balanced, which is a big plus for me.Take a look at GingerRunner's Gear of the Year review. He talks about a strip lamp that you can put on a hat, vest, or waist. A buddy of mine uses it and really enjoys it bc it offers a much broader cone.

How many of you guys are looking at your cadence each run? If you are, are you adjusting your runs as a result? It's mostly an afterthought for me, but I'm interested in what you guys have to say about it. I'm anywhere from 175 to 180, which is supposedly fairly ideal.

Same here and I look at it often. It usually tells me if I'm over striding and I will make an adjustment to get my feet more underneath me and increase turn over.

I always look at mine, it lets me know if I am being most efficient.
I am usually around 185 on avg
with high around 190-200

Well, I signed up for the 10 mile trail run at Bistineau State Park on the 19th.

I've ran it before and it's a fairly flat course, but if this rain keeps up, it's going to be like running through a shallow lake for 10 miles

Dang, your legs must be spinning like crazy. If I’m pushing the pace I’ll be right around 180, slower runs 170-175

My cadence is very consistent. 175-176 during slower runs. 180-181 during faster runs. Like every other aspect of running, I assume the consistency is a good thing.

I have a low cadence. I've always assumed that's because I'm tall. 160s on a regular run, into 170s at a faster pace. If I start to get hurt or stall out on pace, it's probably something I'll look to improve.

I actually have a spotify playlist for 3 hours worth of songs that are all 180 BPM. Keeps me very consistent on my cadence.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year's. I'm back running today after pretty much taking two weeks off. Between work travel and holiday travel in cold weather places, I lacked the motivation and ate like shite.

Anyway, got some new trail running shoes and did 4 miles today and climbed up about 2,700 feet. The jog was pretty slow pace, but felt good to be back. Few pictures I took from the top. I might try and bring an old LSU flag and put it up there next time.

I'm trying to find some races in the area in the next few months to keep me motivated. Still looking at L.A. Marathon in March, but not sure what my work schedule is like yet.

5 miles at 7 minute pace today. Back in NYC. Couple runners ahead of me that helped pace.
