Will try I’m not going to mess with it on my trail run tomorrow but will for next week. Thanks!
Always appreciate your wisdom Burt.

I'm there with you man. Just stopped skoal pouches, started a little over a year ago. Not too bad right now. Made it a week without one right before Christmas.

Damn, Burt, reset week looks like it may cause you concede the top of the Strava leaderboard for a week at least!

I'm not worried about it. LOL. Injury prevention and all, I'll only get about 26 this week maybe 30 next.
The three days I'm not running I do 10 min walk/jog warm up, 40 min on the bike (about 10mi) alternating between strength and cardio, and do 15 minutes of rows.
I do 150 push ups every day regardless of what day or time of year it is.
None of it's hard or well thought out, I'm just trying to keep active because it makes me feel good.

I hear ya! In general, do you do any other strength work besides push ups?
Posted on 1/5/19 at 10:12 am to TigeRoots
No but I should. When I get back to training mileage, I'm considering getting a leg routine for my off day.
@ Three thanks man! For years I didn't/couldn't practice what I preached but I always remained and will continue to remain a student of running.
@Hogbody
Dude, that looks like heaven. Gotten too damn hot here in NWA and we don't get 4 seasons anymore. I think I'm going to try to head a little more north for good.

Just finished up a 10k run with the wife and her friend. Started at 2pm, let's just say that I'm a first thing in the morning runner. The last 2 miles were rough.

Hit 6 miles trails today. 70 degrees and the trails were packed today with people.
Turns out all that stomach throat stuff was not tobacco withdrawal. Full blown stomach bug. Had to get adventurous to make sure I didn’t get an indecent exposure charge.
Always bring TP. Wiping with leaves is not ideal.

2 PM is a tough time for most people to run, especially if you ate lunch only a couple hours earlier.

Yeah it was rough. Had boys basketball games all this morning, so that was the only time we could really get it in.

I've made that run around SLU more times than I can count. A bit of a tough run at that time of day bc there isn't a whole lot of shade. Way to go man.

Ran 4+ miles today after work. Last 2+ miles were under 8:30/mile. I think if I keep up the running over the next 2 weeks I can avoid dying on the 15k.

I feel like I’ve been missing in action in this thread. I’m getting back into training this next week. Goal is to base build for Chicago Marathon training that will start in June. I want to run more races - 5k and half marathon distance - and work on running 6 days a week without the need for extra rest.
Also going to really try and lose the excess 25 pounds I’m carrying.
Here’s my schedule for the week:
Monday - 2
Tuesday - 4
Wednesday - 6
Thursday - 4
Friday - rest
Saturday - 4
Sunday - 10
That’s 30 miles for the week. I’ll add two miles per week and try to get to 50 by March. I want to keep my long run at 30% of my weekly total but probably won’t do any long runs longer than 15 until June. This way I’ll be in marathon shape before actually starting marathon training.
Makes sense in my head at least.

That looks like a good game plan to me. Any goals as of now for the race?

Start at a more realistic pace than my 1st is my main goal. Also finish strong.
It’s not real specific, but after my last marathon, I just want to actually run it without needing to do a death walk the last 6 miles.

First long run of the year, but still not double digits yet. 8 miles @9:13 pace, all splits pretty even after the first mile. This marks 26 miles for the week.

Got in my last long run yesterday before the 20th.
21 miles @9:15 pace.

Did a couple 10K loops around the LSU Lakes today, easy 8:53 pace. Last long run until race day in 2 weeks. 36 for the week, will trim mileage by 15% each of the next 2 weeks.

Good runs today.
Anyone make their way over to letsrun.com? Holy crap! what a bunch of insufferable jagoffs. I think someone commented it was worse than the rant. No doubt.
Speaking of, what's the deal with bikists trying to be sly on Strava making it look like they're crushing the run KOMs. Usually the same few turds doing it.
Easy next week again. then we'll get back into the 40's with no workouts, then the 50-60's where I was at.
Another goal this year is to get into the 70-80's and see if my body can keep it together.
