Saw that, good job man!

Got 9 in this am at an easy 8:44 pace. Going to a house party tonight, so not expecting to start 2019 off with too much of an effort!

Anybody setting mileage goals for the year? I reckon I’ll try to break 1K.

I saw a large gator this summer on that cleared path leading to the pirogue launch on Cane Bayou. Had a family of hogs run out on me last year. Pretty sure my heart rate exceeded 200.

If you are ever in Beaumont, there's a nature preserve on the west side near a golf course that includes the thrill of disturbing napping pathside gators. They would hear you before you saw them, and loudly flop back into the water. Scared the crap out of me several times.

Any reason for the treadmill? Weather related or just changing it up?

Just weather. I loaded my dog in the car and headed out, then it started to pour. Had to U-turn back to the house. Dog was pissed

I’ve had some runs out in east Houston and heard some big splashes down in a creek//bayou. Always freaks me out even though I know they won’t ever get me.

In my neck of the woods it’s rattlesnakes and coral snakes that I’m worried about.

Burt - meant to ask you a couple says ago but - did you partake in any in-race fueling/hydration during the road Half?

Did someone recommend a headlamp or handheld lamp in here?

Injury rehab has started. 1.5 mile hike with the dog and a thermos of Old Fashions along the levee and thru the hood. Perhaps tomorrow a stroll along the beach with the wife. It's hard work, but dammit, someone has to do it.

headlamp

I seem to remember someone bringing it up a couple pages ago. I have a UCO rechargeable that's really light.

VJ that sounds awesome.

That’ll do it! Surely you’re feeling no pain now.

I run with an iteration of this and am very happy. Charge lasts forever.

Finished the year with a 2 mile jaunt in new shoes. Not proud of the mileage today but finished just short of 1200 miles on the year. Goal was 1k.

Nice job man; 1,200 is stout.

Shoes? Did you buy the Brooks trail shoes you mentioned?

I did. Brooks Cascadia. They’re trail shoes and this was a concrete but I wanted to try them out. I was pretty happy with their response. I’ll take them on trails tomorrow or Wednesday.

I got 970 this year so aiming for 1k next year. January won’t be overly productive because of travel and winter in general up here will be rough but hoping I can make up for it over the summer. Aiming for a marathon as well.

Thanks to someone here a year ago, I set a goal for 1k in '18.

Finished with 1140.

That’s funny because I want to pack my miles into the winter because the summer is unbearable. I had some weeks of less than 15 miles in June-Sept.

Happy new year.

Realistic 2019 goals:

2400 miles
17:30 5K
36:30 10K
55:59 15K
1:20:30 Half

Unrealistic 2019 goals:
16:59 5K
1:17:59 Half

If I do a marathon, it'll be the White River Marathon in Cotter, Ar. Nov. 2019. It's flat, its fast, and most importantly USA T&F certified.

Personal bests 2018 (I'm gonna cherry pick )

5Kish 18:03
15Kish 57:27
Half 1:23:22

Some thoughts

Best Shoe Altra Escalante

Best Race Back 40 Trail Races

Worst Shoe New Balance 1500v4

Worst Race Razorback Run

****
Cheers Suckas!

Edit: No Reason to start a popularity contest. My Bad.

I’m in. 5 mile trail kick off with my crew.

One dude brought stuff to make mimosas and bison jerkey. Had a tailgate post run.

ETA: day 1 tobacco free. Pray for me.

Thread strikes again. No intention of running today after boozing and eating shitty last night. Woke up, read thread, darted out the door for a fasted 3 to get on the board for ‘19.

Happy New Year to all and excited to see what ‘19 has in store for this crew!
