I would consider asking your nutritionist why the milk is there. If he has a legit reason, he should easily be able to tell you.

I'm guessing because it's a quick and easy source of all 3 macros and some Calcium and Vitamin D. Problem is you can get these same things from better and most likely tastier/more interesting sources.

It's just odd to make it a requirement. My opinion has always been that any good nutrition plan should have some flexibility and be relatively easy to adhere to.

Drinking that much milk daily is difficult, he's not really doing you many favors with this requirement.

He basically said I should expect to gain 10-15 lbs over a two week period but my sleep and energy shpuod improve.

But he still has you in a deficit and eating healthier foods? Doesn't make sense.

Vitamin D and easily processed calories before bed.

You can get that from tons of other sources. Why is he saying you have to drink a shite ton of milk to get that?

Something to the effect that if you aren't lactose intolerant, milk fat and sugars are both easily digestible.

The initial plan isn't supposed to lose weight, rather fix digestion issues which he and my primary care doctor believe is to blame for my lack of desire for sleep.

Healthier foods is somewhat debatable. I would say more easily digestible... As I can't have my usual shite ton of broccoli dry roasted either

Exactly. So why are you in a deficit?

So you have digestive issues as well? You didn't mention that before. But I still don't see how removing broccoli and adding a shite ton of milk and some rice is going to help with sleep or digestion.

I don't think any of us are more qualified to speak on the matter than your PHD friend or doctor, and I wouldn't change what I'm doing if I were you simply because of what online people say, but it does seem to be an odd plan. To me, only specifically because of the milk. Hopefully our questioning can help you talk to your professionals and get a better understanding of why they're suggesting these things.

It seems like they feel like your digestive issues are causing malabsorption (some people call this "leaky gut"). In this scenario, a high diet fiber can actually be the enemy because it's harder to digest and can contribute to inflammation. It's more common, though, to take on a FODMAP or anti-inflammatory diet of some sort to drive down inflammation to give your intestinal system time to adjust and heal up. Milk and dairy of any kind is one of the first things that are usually cut out of these kinds of elimination diets. This is probably where the confusion that you see from the board coming from. That, and it's difficult to maintain a deficit if you're drinking that much milk a day. In fact, if they're saying you can expect to gain 15 pounds you're definitely not in a calorie deficit. But that's okay - actually, when you're trying to heal your body - be it a broken bone or leaky gut - you should ideally be at maintenance or a small surplus to ensure that your body has the calories to prioritize the healing process.

A lot of people are in denial about their diet, activity level and sleep. Not sure this is you but reality check yourself first just in case. Most people who are 3 bills fall into this category one way or another

I believe it was more a lack of consistent carb intake for so long as we are tweaking salt intake as well. I drink at least a pint of water an hour. So perhaps they expect retention in the short term.

The bloat/sluggishness is being attributed to poor digestion of cruciferous vegetables... Iow, gas.

This period seems meant as a restart. And I suppose the live culture yogurt makes sense in that regard. But the milk carrots and apples do not.

What’s the credentials on this “nutritionist?”

"registered dietician" probably, which means, probably a lot of really shitty unscientific information influenced by up marketed SAD proponents, vegans, and other propagandists and dipshits.

Have you ever worked with an RD? I've now worked with 2 and both of them were incredibly knowledgeable and prefer to push a diet close to 50% fat and very unprocessed, so long as the fats came from appropriate sources (grassfed red meat, grassfed butter, cold presses oils, eggs, etc.).

One of them works with elite athletes and has helped them be better. I'll be starting a program with the this one soon to see if we can better control my Hashimotos symptoms through diet. High stress sets it back off.

No. I was just basing it off of the stupid shite I always see posted on social media or cited in shitty nutrition articles. I was obviously exaggerating also. But good to hear there are woke ones. Hopefully a trend.

I am still advocating a sleep study. As little sleep as you get you have to feel like crap and is bad for your health.CPAP was life changing for me and most of other people I’ve talked to who use them.
