I would do 150mg per week, split in 2 shots.

100 will prolly get you in the 400-500 range but not gonna notice a huge change in quality of life at that dose prolly. 150 prolly get you in that 750-800 range.

Really? I’ve heard that it worsens sleep in some people. How long before you realized it was improving sleep ? Could it be that you’re more active now as a result of the testosterone which has led to improved sleep?

after a month at 150 my numbers have come down and I dont have any side effects like I was feeling with my dosage at 200. I may try to get off of the AI.

Total Test 1152
shbg 10.5
test bio avail calc 973.5
test calc free 415.4
test % free calc 3.6
estradiol 18.5

all of my rbc/hemoglobin/hematocrit are normal this run. I did donate blood around a month ago, so it will be interesting to see if everything stays normal at this level without having to give blood.

Bumping this thread with some questions.

I've been getting weekly test cypionate and hcg shots from a trt clinic for the past 6 months and want to do it myself now to cut down on costs. Those of you who self dose, where do you get testosterone cypionate? I saw goodrx in this thread but I've never used it before, do you have to have a prescription for test first to get it anywhere?

Also have a general question about other people's experiences on trt. Do you experience any fluctuations in your mood/mental state? Some weeks after I get my shot and feel incredible, but others I can't really tell any difference. Dosage started at 120mg for the first 3 months before increasing to 140mg since. I don't remember exactly what my labs were 3 months ago but total test was mid to high 600s, doing labs again this week so I'll know where I am now. The mental benefits are the main reason I started on this, so the inconsistency is frustrating

I order online, I just make sure it is a brand I trust. I usually use Geneza pharmaceuticals. It runs about $70 for 10 mls of 250mg/ml. I get syringes from work, but amazon has them as well. Just make sure labs are monitored.

Just got my medical blood work done which included basic testosterone levels. ~560 at age 47. I was considering TRT, but at this range, which appears to be right in the middle of normal range, I’m second guessing that consideration. On reflection, I think the main reason I’m interested in TRT is that so many of my gym mates are on it.

Age 47
Height 6’2”
Weight 210-214
Workout 8-10 hours/wk (4 day upper/lower)
No other health concerns, all other levels in normal range

Given this limited info, is there any reason to pursue TRT?

up to you...your levels are perfectly fine. Would you see benefits long term if you went to the 1200-1500 range....prolly

but understand with that comes some slight risk.

also this is a single data point. and more importantly what was your Free test and IGF numbers?

get another test done in 6 months and let us know what your free test and igf numbers were and we can give more insight.

I may be starting the TRT journey in January. Just shipped my bloodwork off to Maximus Health this week and the doc will be reviewing with me next week to discuss protocol. I went with Maximus because I know my insurance won't cover it. I was ~550 last year

So question to the experts - I effing hate needles. The injections are subQ which I've heard is better than IM. I've seen plenty of folks recommend 27g 1/2 needles. Is that a good number for someone that is very scared of the injection aspect of this? I know I will get used to it over time, just nervous on the front end. Anything else I can do to make the process a little easier?

Also, where should I be ordering my injection supplies from? Amazon?

27g 1/2" is for IM injections

get 1ml syringes with luer lock

get 18-22g 1" needles to draw

then get 29 or 30g 1/2" needles for injecting subq

the 1" syringes will give you enough pressure to push the oil

you can also let the oil sit in hot water(make sure it doesnt get above the stopper) or heat with blow dryer and then draw/inject which makes it flow better

if you are going to do subq, better to do 3-4 shots per week so like EOD (.25ml EOD) giving you roughly ~175mg per week.

I've never purchased any type of medical supplies before and know nothing about it. Would you be able to link me some examples about what you suggest so I know exactly what I am to look for?

For example, you say 1" needles to draw and then 1" will give you enough pressure to push. Isn't draw and push 2 separate actions?

yea i will tonight. i meant 1" syringe will give you enough pressure to use the smaller 30g needle to inject.

in the mean time look on gpzservices.

This isn’t a reason. Ignore what other people are doing. Your numbers look good. I’d wait. No reason to start now unless the numbers say you need it. I’m eventually going to have to get on tRT but the numbers don’t support it yet so I’m holding out until it is time.

I may be venturing down the path in 2025
Got my labs back - 610 total test. Not bad at all, was 750 2 years ago though. This week was the first time they ever tested free test - 90, which is apparently in the 18th percentile of healthy men. Could explain why I go to the gym 5 days a week but live tired/exhausted 24/7 despite a minimum of 8 hours of sleep every night

So I have an update. I had my appointment with the trt clinic that everyone uses around here. After going over everything with her she is starting me 60mg twice a week. Will check back with her for blood work in a couple months. In the mean time I didn’t stick with my PCP decision of 100mg every 2 weeks. I’ve been doing 100mg a week since the end of October. It’s been almost 2 months and I really haven’t noticed or felt any different. I have dropped about 10 lbs prolly from cleaning up my diet. I’ve been doing carnivore this whole time minus a few days that I cheated. I’ve been trying to get at least 30-1hr of walking a day. I try and do some normal workout stuff with dumbells around the house. Tough with 2 kids under 3. I just don’t think it’s enough and need to start back at a gym. Btw I am 40 5’10 about 186lbs. Sorry for the long post. Just looking for anymore feed back

120mg is a decent starting point but most need a little more. IMO, 140-160mg is a good starting point. But you’re in the right track.

Did you draw blood on the 100mg/wk protocol? That would give you an idea of where you’re at.

Thanks for the input. The bloodwork for my pcp is coming up in January. I’m definitely curious to see where things are.
