I am in the process of becoming an LEO. What program would you reccommend? I have been running GSLP and it’s conditioning program for a while and making good strength gains. I think it’s time to take a more catered approach now.

Probably one of the programs that have you lift 3x a week max and then the other 3 days conditioning work

MWF i lift and do conditiong after on MW, Friday its so much volume its only lifting.

Tuesday is usually two crossfit or functional fitness workout with barbell and kettble bells mixing 200-400 meter runs, the row machine or assult bike.

Thursday is a 3-5 mile run

Saturday is similar to tuesday

Sunday is rest

God bless you, I left in 2017. If you need advice let me know and I'll post my email.

I've been through 3 post academies. St Charles regional easiest, brpd and state which were both tough for different reasons.

More money, better equipment, less Bs. The firearms guys are top notch and the swat guys are as well, so that's an advantage.

But I really can't recommend anyone go there at the moment, sorry if that is a kick in the nuts. With the St. George stuff coming to head I don't see it getting better or them getting a raise to be competitive. I enjoyed my time there and the people I worked with but the upper level bs was too much. Luckily all my time transferred to the state so I am not out anything.

What makes brpd your choice if I may ask? I got into because I wanted to do City police stuff... Chase bad guys and put them in jail.

I live in Baton Rouge. I figured if I’m going to be a cop, might as well work my own city. The sherrif dept doesn’t impress me, and the few BRPD guys I met seem like good people. They also have a street crimes division that attracted me. It would give me a ton of experience. I eventually would like to maybe work at the federal level, but that’s later on.

I know there are a lot of bad politics, but I can’t let that deter me from doing something I could really enjoy doing. There’s always BS to put up with at any job. If I get the chance to help people and maybe get bad people out of neighborhoods, then I can ignore the stupidity at the mayor’s office.

The guys that work there are great, the street crimes guys do a good job as well. You can make decent money with extra duty and overtime stuff as well. Just know what you are getting into before hand and you should be alright.

I’m fully expecting street crimes to be quite dangerous, but everything has a risk. And the guys in that division look like they don’t frick around, so I would have good guys watching my back. Hopefully I have what it takes to roll with them. I’m actually not that worried about money. My SO has a great job, so we’ll be okay.
