The issue is that there are two kinds of lifting.

Hardcore asthetic body sculpture that takes real work both physical and mental.

And Jim Wendler Bodybuilding.com low volume 3x5 derp used to give proles something to do in your cash cow mass market gym.

Idiots don't like confusing weight lifting theory or to work hard in the gym they just want a simple method to repeat so they can feel good about doing something and ego lift.

Now I'm going to get stomped in stupidity and stubborness.

What are you talking about? It’s a linear program that preaches simplicity and progressive overload. It’s the most straight forward form lifting program. How is it ego lifting? Your daily lifting percentages are based off of 90% of your max.

You got destroyed when you tried this in the other thread, so you decided to start a new thread to get destroyed again?

Kinda weird, but ok

5/3/1 is anything but ego lifting.

If we're talking ego lifting why not start with cable pec flys, dumb curls right at the mirror, 2" shrugs etc...

I would like to counter your points... but you dont make any. Just some ignorant bullshite. Half of which is barely English.

I say ignorant because you clearly dont know anything about the 531 brand of programs. For example ego lifting? 531 is a sub-maximal training method...

Is 531 the best program? Eh maybe not.. maybe.. who cares..

This is just a dumb post. Cable flyes are a good finishing move and the dumbbells are always in front of the mirror. 2” shrug as opposed to what?

Ego lifting? If anything Wendler wants you humbled. He constantly preaches having your starting weight lower than you think it needs to be.

That being said, I got my deadlift above 500lbs using the original 531 template.

What's your total?

Terrible Post. I’ve been running 5/3/1 since April and i’m repping my 1RM from april. It’s my second time running the program and I’ve broken plateaus and continuously made gains using it.

Yeah. It's not like Wendler isn't very transparent about why he does what he does too.

From the training max concept to the exercise selection and progressive overload concept, he is pretty direct about what is going on and why.

Exactly. It’s a technique proven to work time and time again.

It's understandable. You haven't been to my gym.

Back to my original question, how are squats or shoulder presses or deadlift ego lifts? You either lift it or you don't. I tend to see MUCH more ego lifting with isolation exercises but that may just be me.

Doesn’t the 5/3/1 program include 5x10 after the working lifts?

That's the boring but big template.

OG template is 4 days a week

Squats
Bench
Deadlift
Press

There is a 5's week, 3's week and a 5/3/1 week and then a deload.

But there are 100 variants from bodybuilding, powerlifting, bulking, cutting, athletic workouts, bodyweight, running etc. Whatever your goal, 531 has it. And if you combine it with the warm up he advices, it's a complete program.
