Is fasted cardio legit?

I’ve been told by multiple people now that I need to add fasted cardio to my routine because they’ve seen great results. I don’t mind waking up in the morning and walking on an incline treadmill but I’m curious if anyone here has experience incorporating it into their routine.

Many people swear by it but there's really no evidence to support that over 24 hours you burn any additional body fat compared to an equivalent caloric deficit + cardio.

Apparently I've been unintentionally doing this for years and my results have always been pretty solid. Nothing ridiculous though (Usually just run or swim).
I just prefer it because it's a good way to start your day, plus if I eat anything 3 hours before a workout I'll be burping the entire time.

There is no evidence scientifically that shows more fat burn but it has been used for decades with in the bodybuilding community with success.
Overall it's an easy way to create a caloric deficit and great way to start your day. With that said science says sleep is much more important if your total calorie burn for the day stays the same. So if you are getting the walking in, don't sacrifice sleep to do it fasted.
When trying to gain weight, fasted cardio does do a great job of stimulating appetite.

One argument that I think may hold merit is doing LISS (Low Intensity Steady State) Cardio fasted as opposed to HIIT (High Intensity) cardio.
The Science is related to getting your body to use body fat reserves as fuel as opposed to what you ate prior.
I have tried some LISS fasted, but I always eat prior to doing HIIT or weight lifting.

Basically, your body burns more fat than it would if you weren't fasted, but burns less stored fat throughout the rest of the day than it would. It goes for carbs.
Basically it works technically but not the way its advertised. Its sort of like intermittent fasting in that way.

So should I eat before my workout in the morning or not? I usually eat some Greek yogurt and berries but if that is for some reason holding my back somehow I could wait until after.

You could try working out fasted but remember that whether you eat before or after is maybe 2% of the overall story.
I've done both ways and haven't really noticed a big enough difference to favor one over the other.

Basically: Do whatever you want. The benefits, if there are any, are slim.

It’s up to you. If you work out better empty, then do it. My friend can’t workout with food in his stomach or he pukes.
Basically go with what works.

I’ve actually seen significantly better performance results from fasted cardio, especially if I’m running distance.
I’m not too worried about the losing weight part of it.

I workout at 5 am with a group. Some days are HIIT and others are lift days (focus on deadlift, back/front squats, bench, etc). I found that eating a banana with my pre-workout does well for me. Keeps me going and I don't feel full before or sluggish at the end of the workout. I tried doing it fasted and was too tired. With this I've stayed around 170 lbs and got my deadlift up to 365. Working on slimming down to 160, but that is going to take some eating habit changes.
