- high insulin secreters benefit much more from low carbohydrate diet as compared to normal or low insulin secreters.

- Metabolic defect in fat cells cause obesity not overeating.

- Leptin lowered and leptin sensitivity lowered on low carbohydrate diet.

- there’s a new study coming out addressing dietary saturated fats and cardiovascular health.

Ludwig is awesome. He is a true scientist and physician. He never seems to overreach beyond what well-designed studies can support, when it comes to categorical statements. He is a good public educator too.

He's up there with Ron Krauss, Steven Phinney, Dom D'Agostino, Peter Attia, Tom Dayspring, and a small handful of others, for me, in terms of people who can communicate complex concepts that seem to be ignored by mainstream clinicians and even researchers.

And based on my extensive experience with the former, I'm not sure they have enough of a clue about nutrition to even know what they don't know.

Low carb lifestyle is awesome. Been doing it since July. Dropped two pants sizes and can see my abs for the first time in a decade. Had to buy new pants and a new belt. Doesn’t even need to be extreme keto. Just low carb esp low sugar. Wish I’d known about this 20 years ago.

He explains the carbohydrate-insulin model of obesity pretty succinctly in the video.

He does call out people like your boy Layne Norton at around 5:05. People who use short term results to understand long term effects. That must be why you don’t agree with this world renowned scientist/physician.

so he shits on science good to know. and the carb insulin model of obesity has been debunked so far. so if he has some previously unpublished data that is goign to change the way we look at things, he should share. other wise he should stop publishing his beliefs as fact.

But bro...muh insulin levels are spiking. Insulin drives fat bro. Get out of here with your 1980s science.

Seriously, keto has its place, but this fricking bullshite about it being the end all be all and all of the bullshite lies being spewed need to stop.

**Coming from somebody that uses keto often.

As a vegan I eat basically nothing but carbs (complex carbs, not simple) and I’m totally healthy. The keys are not eating shite, counting calories, and working out.

I'd be interested to see any studies debunking Insulin Resistance if you have any bookmarked.

Insulin resistance is a real thing. However, in a caloric deficit insulin sensitivity increases.

And exercise improves insulin sensitivity greatly as well.

Look, I'm not advocating that people go out and eat nothing but hamburgers, cokes, and fried foods to lose weight. Realistically, in order to be successful long-term, one should be eating the majority of their calories in the form of whole, minimally processed foods. This increases satiety, nutrient density, and decreases intake of demonstrably negative nutrients such as hydrogenated oils and trans fats. That said, drinking a beer or eating out once a week, as long as calories and protein are controlled, is not going to make anyone unhealthy or roadblock weight loss.

The health benefits of specific diets are 10% or less of the health equation right now. When so much of America is obese and overweight, focusing on the last 10% is truly missing the forest for the trees. Small steps that are easy to implement and promote long-term healthier habits are going to help drive down caloric intake and help people be much, much healthier. Once we solve the obesity crisis, then we can focus on the last 10%. What happens when you focus and drive home the last 10% of what's healthiest for someone is that the health-oriented people get healthier, but gen pop doesn't care and keeps on keepin' on.

Jesus Hulk, do you expect to reduce carb intake from ~490g to 460g to have an impact on obesity levels? I don't think even you put down 400g on any day of the week these days. Really, a reduction of 6.1% of total intake? Come on, obesity % of the population is still going to increase at 460g per day, which is shown.

Or reducing sugar from, what, a high of ~110-112g a day to ~90g a day to reduce obesity? At least this is a slightly less than 20% reduction in sugar......but it is still at 90g per day.

What is really taking the cake here is pointing out caloric intake actually decreasing from 2000 to 2009...but damn, obesity %'s still increased at the same rate. However, he used that on in a a different post.

Do we not see the glaring disconnect here? Look, I actually like Stephan and his website is one of my bookmarks - but he needed to go into detail tying in these disconnects along with caloric intakes mentioned in a different blog post.

Don't even get me started on this insulin/protein BS spewed at the end. As protein may be insulinogenic, but not near the levels in natural foods needed to create a fricking obesity epidemic.

This will never happen. Eating shitty, cheap food is too easy especially for poor/stupid people. Just look at the grocery basket of a fat poor person. Almost all of it comes in a box. It's disgusting.
