What brands should I be looking at?

Depends on budget and what you will be using it for.

How many miles a year do you run?
Posted on 10/19/20 at 7:20 pm to SmellslikeKevinBacon
What kind of shirts do you want to hang from it?

I’ve gotten two.
Both form Facebook marketplace for stupid cheap. Sold them on there after I outgrew the treadmills

SmellslikeKevinBacon,
Couple years back I was creeping up in weight , unhealthy, and a poor example for my daughter.
Treadmills ALMOST always end up as a waste of money, except for the few & far between.
It 100% helped me dedicate myself to getting fit and I fell in love with running & changed my life.
When I purchased it my wife and I decided to get something nicer so if it went to hell and I never used it I could sell it on Facebook marketplace and suffer the smallest loss possible.
I ended up getting rid of it after a few hundred miles to run outdoors and sold it for a very nice price. We went with a higher end Bowflex because people knew & respected the name.

I had a True for 14 years and never had an issue with it.

Same here. I’ve had mine for about the same time . Was ~$2k new and still works great
I ended up with a used Planet Fitness branded Life Fitness commercial treadmill recently. Those models go for $6k brand new- got it for $250 it has some slight squeaks here and there but works like a champ considering the price I got it for

New to using one. I’ll mostly be using it for cardio after weight lifting.

Mostly my extra medium shirts.

If you aren't going to be putting that many miles on it, i wouldn't stress too much about what type. However, if i were in your shoes I would buy a used one from a gym that is closing or that regularly updates their treadmills. Orange Theories regularly update their treadmills and sell the used ones for like $500. A used commercial treadmill will far exceed anything you get new for the same price.
Be prepared to do you own maintenance. As I treadmill owner I have become very familiar with the inner workings of my treadmill.

Use FB marketplace. I have one that I mainly use for incline walking. I rarely run on it.

They don’t have roads or trails where you live?

It’s hard to simulate inclines in most of Louisiana
That’s why I use a treadmill- for incline walking . It gets the heart rate up without overtaxing my joints or CNS
I use my rouge echo and street bike for high intensity stuff - as well as lift weights.

Waste of money and space, unless you already have a home gym room. Just go outside and walk and run.
