If it's over 50, I could not care less.

I’m lucky to see DBs over 90. Most gyms are lacking in that regard.

50s are normally a 1st warmup set on most lifts for me.

I interpreted your message as how many people at my gym who lift the 120s are d-bags, and my answer is 95% of them.

Every DB here over 95 has a warped handle. The 120 I showed pales in comparison to the others.

I’ll round them up and get a pic for you to interpret the message wrong again.

Idiots dropping them from various heights and the impacts bend the handles.

If you can’t handle the weight properly, don’t pick them up.

I didn’t touch that one along the wall. I think it’s a 115.

I went: 95, 110, 120

Fricking gospel and it's usually on DB flat bench. Dudes just let them go and half the time they aren't even doing full reps. Lots of pure lifting gyms with a good meathead as an owner/manager will let you get by once with dropping them. The next time you are generally on the street with maybe an arse beating.

I had a jack arse doing flat bench the other day and he dropped some 80's right next to me. It actually startled me since it was loud and I wasn't expecting it. After he got up I casually asked him if he wouldn't mind stopping at 70's so he wouldn't drop them next time.

One of my buddies used to work at a gym in south Mississippi and he said they had to start charging members for bent weights. He said one year they went through at least one set of 80-120 pound weights from meat heads just dropping them after the set. Those DBs aren’t cheap.

If you can’t control it on the way down you probably don’t need to be lifting that much

I will say I go to a "pretty boy" gym with the frills. Vida in DC. I think our dumbbells go up to 100, but i have never seen one person grab them. On my lower weight squat days i'll grab a 75/80 with resistance bands and do goblets. I haven't seen anyone even use anything higher than a 65 on anything actually.

It's a nice gym and lots of guys hit the squat racks/bench presses etc. so it isn't like they aren't working hard. just no one uses dumbbells where I go (I think there may be 2 full sets though so maybe people use the other group)

Honestly I’ve never seen those type of hex dumbbells at any commercial gym. I’ve always seen and used the ones that can be tightened and repaired if damaged.

This gym I checked out in Houston (actually called Houston Gym) had all varieties of DBs.

Up to 180lbs. But of those kind of left, I picked up a couple that almost felt had a little play in them, that you don't expect with a fixed DB. Made me nervous to press it above my head.

I'm in the market for a gym in Houston so have been doing trial workouts at a few places. This place had a good powerlifting/bodybuilding vibe, kind of like old Cureton's on Metairie Rd, but was a little too small for crowd and only 2 squat racks.
