How do you get up the motivation to make morning workouts?

Morning workouts are the best and worst way to workout. I always tell friends that once you switch to morning workouts you can never go back to working out after work. There is nothing better than knowing you are done with your task for the day once you walk out of the office. Problem is once I fall off the train, I struggle to get back on and can't stand afternoon workouts now. I am finding myself hitting the snooze more and more. How do you get yourself up and motivated for those early morning workouts?

I'm the exact same way.

The only time I've ever been truly consistent with morning workouts is when I had a workout partner. Having that partner to hold you accountable is big, at least for me.

I've been working out at lunch for the past few months now and I'm really liking it. I don't have to get up at 5 am and I'm not trying to fit a workout in at the end of the day either.

If its possible, I'd suggest giving it a shot.

I have found the exact opposite.

I had a stretch a few years ago where I started working out before work and the result was not great. I feel anxious and rushed when I work out in the morning. I much prefer to work out in the evening when I know I can take my time and not worry about a looming obligation.

By choosing not to workout early morning.

I go at lunch.

I'm married.

And yes, no kids. My tolerance for stress is low.

I have three kids, one who is in college, a four-year-old, and a three-year-old and we all work out as a family after work. The kids love hanging from the pull-up bars and moving the bumper plates around the garage. They also do "jump rope" and push-ups, sit-ups, etc. It's a lot of fun.

Ah, key word here

I could work out in the evenings if I could ever get my garage gym built

It seems the stock is building back up and not selling out as fast. There may be hope!

ETA: I would definitely go in the mornings if I had to leave the house.

Coffee and knowing that you will enjoy your exercise more after you get through the first few days of being sleepy.

I can’t do mornings.
I don’t have the energy, I love my sleep, and I don’t like to be constrained by time.

I go after work at 5:30.

I used to workout after work before I had kids. Now, if I don't do it before everyone wakes up then I know I'm not getting it in at all that day. I go to bed early and don't watch TV or play on a phone in bed. I'm usually laying down in bed for 8:00 and asleep by 8:15. I wake up at 4:20 M-F. Get in the garage gym at 4:40 and I start working sets around 5:00. I'm done for 6:00-6:15 M-F. Having a garage gym definitely has made it easier for me, but I followed a similar routine before I had that (arrived to gym at 5:00 AM M-F). Long story short, is that you just have to try your best to get to sleep early, then wake up and get out of bed when your alarm goes off. Set out your gym clothes the night before.

Pre-workout already made and on my nightstand to slam when I wake up. Hard to go back to sleep with 300mg of caffeine in you

Pretty much this. If I can get my pre-work out in me, I'm good. My alarm goes off @440am so it can be a struggle getting my arse to the kitchen for it sometimes. But it's no worse than the guilt I feel if I skip.

And I am not an afternoon/evening workout guy. I'm more apt to skip or make excuses from BS at work.

I workout at a place that is on the way to drop kids off at school and I have to pass it coming home.

I've been going the most consistent ever. It helps that I don't have to go anywhere for work so all that wasted time driving is now being used efficiently at the gym.

One cup of coffee when I first wake up and then a Bang or Reign on the way has me ready as well.

Can't do it. No part of me wants to lift heavy after waking up at 3am. I've tried and tried but I just can't get my arse up that early

You can do it. You just have to be willing to suffer for a week or so.
