You want to run faster and you only run once a week?
You need to be hitting the local track and running sprints 3 days a week.

Wear these under your pants. This time of year that’s all you need.

I found that exercises that focused on quick explosions helped my speed tremendously. Quick sprints & box jumps were my go-to. But my issue was I had good straight line speed, but was slow off the line.
With all of that, I found being the primary rusher for 2-3 season quickly elevated my speed. You are going through quick explosions off the line, change of direction, constant stop/start

Intervals(100's/150's), short 50m sprints with full recovery, correct you form(arm swing and knee drive). Run a long run 1-2 times a week.

work on hips and explosive movements. Also wouldnt hurt to do some footwork drills(cones, ladders). You can only make yourself so fast but having betting feet and technique will help close that gap
