Gymns closed blessing in disguise?
Anyone taking advantage of this down time to let joints recover? Gotten to the age where muscles are stronger than joints. Might be a good time to let the joints recover and recharge. Do just cardio.

Doing things at home for workouts I haven’t done in years without machines or weights and I’m sore as shite.
Good for the body and nice to get a gym break. Just hope it doesn’t go past mid April or I’ll go nuts.

I've been doing more HIIT and high intensity body weight exercises.

You are correct 2-3 weeks of no heavy weights is a good time for the body to reset itself per say.

It’s honestly pretty impressive how good of a workout you can get with body weight

frick no.

More lifting at home now. I have a near full gym at the house. This will get me using it regularly. I hope it continues (me using the home gym) so I can supplement my usual CF classes with more strength and cardio at home when everything gets back to normal.

Thread title is right on, I definitely agree with you.

However, most people will never get strong enough where they need to let there joints recover unless the are either on juice and and/or have too much volume or weight in their workouts which leads to form and posture breakdowns and eventually significant injuries.

I'm loving it so much I'm considering ordering a barbell and some bumper plates. Just the fact that people are spending more time outside is great.

I’m right there with you except Im still doing some resistance work

With gyms closed and working from home everyday (and not traveling for work) , I’ve been using this time to let my body recover and get in extra cardio. At home, I have a treadmill, rogue echo bike, old airdyne bike and standard mountain bike. I’ve been incorporating at least 1 of these everyday

For resistance training, I’ve been using a variety of resistance bands doing upper and lower body splits. I also have a pull-up bar setup in my garage with TRX bands as well. I’m not sure that I want to invest in a barbell and plates for home use (space is at a premium in the garage)

I’ve found several good workouts online from John Meadows, John Russin and a few others . The resistance band workouts have been surprisingly good and challenging. I’m getting good muscle pumps with them

I have been doing some off the wall shite with sandbags and working on my BJJ and cardio. I think I have been a closet cross fitter my whole life.

Upper body is awesome. There's nearly an infinite number of exercises and variations. Legs are more difficult. To keep challenging yourself you're eventually doing ridiculously high volume or movements with a high degree of technical difficulty like pistols.

Yeah that’s a good point. I hit that wall today but I started running with a 65lb sandbag on my back and that brought the suck back.

I hate it. I'm not as disciplined at home. I'm also less disciplined with my diet.

It's interesting for me. Crossfit gym is doing home workouts, which means largely bodyweight stuff. I'm overweight so that stuff is usually the hardest for me, and so I'm forced to work on weaknesses. It's infuriating because now I really suck at all of the workouts but it's forcing a mindset shift, I think.
