I have significant gout pain on top of my right kneecap.

I've been taking ibuprofen like they're tic tacs, (only about 800mg daily for a week, but I take lisinopril for hypertension and I've read you don't take those 2 meds together).

Started drinking more water and iced it some. It helped a little bit. Does anyone have anything they've taken that cured or significantly relieved this?

If you haven't had gout, thank the Lord. It can be excruciating.

Allopurinol. I went on Allopurinol in 2008 and haven't had a gout attack since. You'll want to stay in the 100mg range if possible. High dosage could damage kidneys long term.

Allegedly dark cherry juice can help, but it didn't help me

Go to the doctor, get on allopurinol. You can't fight it with Advil and cherry juice.

I'll ask him next appointment. Any idea if that can be taken with lisinopril and crestor?

Get on Allo. I haven't had an attack since going on it. I white knuckled the first few attacks, and it was hell on earth. It was the most intense pain I have ever experienced. Had I been able to walk to the kitchen to get a knife, I'd have cut my foot off. No joke.

Allopurinol will not help for acute gout. It will help prevent it.

Colchicine, prednisone, and indomethacin are some of the things that will help you out.

Colchicine and indomethicin for the flare up and pain relief.

Allopurinol or Uloric for prevention of future flare ups.

Allopurinol can cause more flare ups in the first month or so you take it. I have no experience with Uloric.

I tried Allopurinol for around 8 months and couldn't take it. It caused severe muscle cramps and joint inflammation for me.

Water is your best friend. At least half your body weight in ounces every day.

30 year history of excruciating gout attacks. Been free for 3 years thanks to allopurinol (miracle drugs for us folks). My only relief at all during attacks was the ibuprofen cocktail. Take two motrin and two extra strength Tylenol every 4-6 hours. There are actual studies that this combo is better than Oxy. I can attest that it helped more than prescription opiates.

if you're having to take allopurinol, lisinopril, and Crestor it sounds like you need to fix your diet and lifestyle

Get on allopurinol. Do you drink alcohol? I quit and was able to come off it.

My final gout attack was when I started dosing ivermectin. It was gone the next morning. My dad had gout in his knee this week, gave it to him and he was walking by the afternoon. Do it once or twice per month and your gout will be clear. It flushes out the parasites inside your body to prevent gout and purchased from tractor supply. Downvote away.

As a physician, please don't recommend this for gout. Don't recommend it for anything really other than you know, parasite infections, but especially not gout.

As you know, gout is not caused by parasites. It is caused from a build up of uric acid. Uric acid is us formed the breakdown of purines, which are found in some foods and drinks. Normally, uric acid leaves the body in your pee. But sometimes we make too much uric acid or our kidneys do not get rid of enough of it.

I've had 5 total SIPS of alcohol in my entire life. And zero in 20 years.

Take the doctors advice and not the two people who didn't have gout pain after taking it.

“Don’t recommend it for anything really other than you know, parasite infections, but especially not gout.”

Not a Dr.,retired nurse.
I can’t imagine ivermectin would work for gout other than possibly placebo effect.Even that would be a stretch,I can’t see uric acid crystals being dissolved by ivermectin.

Are you against it for Covid. It worked great for me and 4 family members. Also for several other friends and acquaintances. Also some Drs,couple I know and higher profile Drs.such as Dr.Mary Talley Bowden.

I tried it on a grandson for the flu.I thought it would work since influenza virus is a RNA virus but it didn’t help.
Same grandson, ivermectin knocked out Covid in 24 hours.

I didnt imagine it would either. I havent had gout since and it was gone just like it did my dad this week. I'm going with the facts of both cases and how it has given me no worries of it coming back. Thanks, ivermectin.

Gave another person ivermectin for 2 days because of gout. Gone the second morning. Downvote this and keep having gout pain.

The only thing I regret about Allopurinol...is not starting it sooner
