I had probably ballooned up to about 280. Don’t really get on the scale much. It’s not like I needed to go see Dr. Now in Houston or anything, but I needed to get my shite in order. Stopped lying to myself and challenged myself to use this year when I turn 40 to get in the best shape of my life. I feel so much better that I don’t plan on slowing down any time soon. Drinking was a huge culprit and it’s amazing how little I miss it and how little I think about it anymore.

Still going if you need support.

70 Days Sober.

Feels good. If I get a drink craving, I turn to food. In the beginning this was fine because stopping the drink was the biggest priority. Now I've turned from craving drinking into craving fast food into buying some lower calorie frozen junk to tide me over. Hopefully soon it will turn into turning that craving into a high protein snacks.

Apples.

Get a bag of apples and eat one next time you’re hungry. Don’t trade one vice for another.

Kudos to all of you going all in in 2023. I considered the same but I knew it wouldn't work for me, but I knew I had to make some changes. I'm 39 and I had gotten into the habit of a having a drink while I made dinner for the wife (no pics) and kids. Drinking was becoming part of the routine, but rarely got "drunk", even on the weekends. When I thought about it those 1-2 drinks here and there really started to add up.

I decided to take a different route, a budget system. I decided I get 100 drinks in 2023 and I can use them as I wish, but when the 100 are gone, they're gone. I know I'm going to have some drinks at football games, on vacation, or if we go out to a nice dinner but I needed to get away from the casual no reason drink. So every time I have a drink, I log it into my Apple Health app on my phone. So far I've had 13 drinks this year. I've had one drink at home after work so far and I regretted it immediately because it was stupid and there was no reason to do it. My wife and I are going our for a nice dinner tonight, so I'll probably have a bourbon while we eat

I wish I had logged how many drinks I was consuming before, I'd most likely be horrified but so be it. My wife was never a huge drinker, but I noticed she'd have a drink if I did and now that I'm not having as much, neither is she.

Keep going guys, you're doing great!

3 months dry tomorrow.

100 day mark is April 10th.

I've been having bad cravings for a drink this past week, as boredom creeps in. I've read that when you stop it takes a while for your brain to reset and around 100 days is when you start thinking about drinking again.

Reasons I won't (some of these are from years ago when I drank heavy):
-Tingling in feet
-Hangovers with emotions all over the place
-Nausea
-Regret of saying silly things I'd normally keep to myself
-Lighter wallet because of food ordering
-The thought of organ issues down the line
-Fitful sleep

And so much more that I can't think of off the top.

Bumping.

I fell off. Drank a glass of red wine when LSU played Iowa for the WBB championship.

Then again when we went home to visit to see my wife's mother who was put on hospice. Had a few glasses of whiskey on a friday night.

Dry other than that.

Hope everyone is still doing okay.

Still dry since NYE. Even had dinner with some friends a few weeks ago and I normally would have joined them for a round or two. But I knew I was working out when I got home so I didn’t have one.

been dry since jan 11th and feel great. hasnt been real tough so far, football season will be the challenge

to me there was always nothing better than posting up at your local sports bar with a good buddy for a big game and getting good and drunk and talking shite together. problem was when he was heading home at 10pm to hit the sack i was telling my uber to stop for more beer so i could keep the party going by myself at home until the sun came up.

if there was no game or nobody to hit the bar with well fine i could do it on my own: craft beer drinker here. fell in love with going to the local hipster store and picking up several different 6 packs of 8% abv strong beers, sitting on the couch with a good tv series or sporting event and getting good and drunked up until about 5am. alot of stoners say weed makes everything better, well i always thought everything with a buzz was better, even tv. then id be worthless the next day and get nothing done

for a long time i felt that there was no problem with this. i wasnt out drinking and driving, i wasnt bothering anybody or harming myself so whats wrong with drinking in my own home? i finally had to admit that not being able to go to bed after a few drinks and staying up drinking until the early morning is not normal, and wasnt allowing me to be the best version of myself. saying "aww frick it im off tomorrow with not much to do lets crack another" until the fridge is empty is not normal. so, on january 11th after attending an lsu bball game with a buddy and doing my typical solo drunk fest at home until the morning, i decided its time for all of this to end and for me to be the best version of myself. just made 4 months and hoping to keep this train rolling

Very cool!

I haven't drank in about a month now, hoping when we move back home it doesn't creep back in.

I'll be on a large plot of secluded land and it wil be very tempting to pour a drink when a storm rolls in or just when I want to watch the cows.

I hope I can stay strong.

Very nice.

Had my 5th drink of the year last night. We just moved on to my inlaws property and there's always whiskey available.

I'd like to moderate, so I'm taking this as a new challenge. I abstained easily when there was no alcohol in the house. I'm going to try to take this a day at a time until either LSU is playing in the CWS or football season with some Jambalaya.

Either way, this is the least I've drank in half a year since 2014.

On another note, since moving out here and working outside all day, I've dropped 5 pounds with minimal effort when it comes to my diet. I'm going to keep tracking calories, but so far I'm dipping into the 180s and feel great.

But don’t you want to remember those moments?

Keep it going dude. 2-3 drinks during a game is a perfect amount.

Funny enough, and maybe because it's I started drinking when I was 22, but I've had alcohol erase my memory one time. Some of my fondest memories are from going out and having a good time in Boise. Hitting 2-3 bars, going to the club, getting late night pizza.

I've had some sloppy moments, especially when I first started, but now when I drink I'm not going past 3 drinks because I know the next day will be hell in terms of a headache.

I think one pour to start the game and then a pour at halftime is more than enough.

I am not trying to be a hypocrite. I sometimes drink to excess, especially during games. But about five years ago, I woke up and didn't remember much of a great game Ole Miss played in. It made me second guess why I got that drunk in the first place, if I was never going to remember the game and all.

What's your experience with this? I'm considering it as my "stop drinking" switch is broken after more than 2 drinks.
