Just curious is anybody on here trying alcohol alternatives?
I'm not interested in going totally dry but I'd to have something to sit down and relax with at night that isn't alcohol or caffeine. I drink a ton of water already. It will help with caloric balance and food choices for sure.
Been researching...

Athletic Brewing seems like they make decent NA beers that are <100 calories
Some interesting spirit options like Seedlip, Monday, Spiritless, and Ritual for "cocktails"
I like a Moscow Mule or substitute gin/tequila for vodka so this may be a good option with these non-alcoholic spirits and diet ginger beer

Athletic Brewing is really good as long as you have a store close to you that actually has them in stock.

Athletic Brewing is good. I haven't tried any of the mocktails like Seedlip et. al.

I've thought about trying some of the CBD drinks as well. Then' there's the Hopwater, hopped sparkling water, which is pretty good. We usually just do a topo chico in the bottle with maybe a lime squirted in for "something different" than water.

I also like Athletic Brewing, but not a big fan of their darker beers. If you like IPA’s, Free Wave is money. Honestly though, Budweiser Zero is just as good to me as AB.

Tried Seedlip once, not for me. I don’t think the non-alcoholic liquors are going to be any good.

At the end of the day, best replacement for me is a lime TopoChico.

I've moved to Athletic Brewing during the week and even on Fridays and Sundays now. Probably only really drink on Saturdays now. The bigger social events are harder to manage though.
Love being able to just grab another Athletic and not have it impact my calories that much. Taste is pretty good (but not the real thing). Still the nice relaxing effect at night.
Also tried Go Brewing another brand which is also good.
Just can't find any in stores, have to order in advance.

Tried Heineken 0 in stores and blegh nope
Still haven't tried the zero proof liquor substitutes yet but on the menu for future

Bumping this thread to say I’ve been alcohol free since dec 31. I was all excited about it, 2023 the year to elevate my fitness to next level, cut out alcohol and see what happened.

Felt so good by mid January that I decided a year would be worth it. Then around the third week of January I found out I was pregnant with #4, biggest surprise of. our. lives.

Fast forward through a scary/high risk pregnancy, after multiple hospitalizations for magnesium and stroke scares (I’ve had HELLP and pre eclampsia in prior pregnancies) I delivered a healthy baby via c section 5 weeks ago today.

So.

Still planning to finish the year alcohol sober, and now I not only have to elevate my fitness (AGAIN) but I have about 20 lbs to lose to be back where I’m cut/fit and feel good. I call it my homeostasis weight.

I worked out throughout and maintained my strength as much as was safe, walked 5-8 miles almost daily, until the last couple months. I have one more week until I can honestly begin working out, though I’ve been doing walking and light bicep curls, floor bridges to slowly and safely begin building my core. Doctor said I had horrible internal abdominal scarring and abdominal separation from so many c sections and pregnancies, so I’ve got to be really careful.

Anyway, I guess I’m posting this to check in as still being sober, not missing it at all. I love the athletic brew lights for a football day or when it just feels like I need the taste of a beer. And also, I posted this as a way to get back into the accountability circle. Time to get right. Again.

Tracking macros. Drinking all the waters. But also not sleeping great.

I’m in the same boat brother. Been the best year of my adult life. Lost about 30 lbs, haven’t run in years, ex-college catcher. The days with no alcohol feel so much better and I’m sharper and happier vs having 2/3 bourbons and a glass of wine or something. I’m in that I want to quit completely, but when I’m feeling great, I think I’m ok to have some drinks. Crazy how alcohol and our minds work.

Sparkling Ice with many flavors and is really good and I can put it in a glass with ice and a little lime or lemon and it feels like i am having a cocktail. Maybe it is mental. I really do not know but i have found that having these has significantly reduced the amount of alcohol I consume at night. I probably have lost 5-7 pounds by just changing this in my diet. I never have had an issue with overdoing it but this instead of 2 IPAs in probably 300 plus calories i am saving myself
