I used to almost never eat breakfast
And my window when I actually took it seriously was 12-8
Sometimes on the weekend I wouldn’t I could have pancakes with the kids
I stopped the last few months when I started eating to preform bc I wasn’t getting enough cals down when fasting.

Not sure if there is a scientific correlation, but since I started IF my craving for sweets has declined substantially.

I don't like to be hungry and I like breakfast.
for an example if you are trying to eat 2k calories a day. It wont matter what time frame you eat it in. Its just having a smaller time frame can help if you can't maintain that 2k in a 24 hr time frame. There is nothing magical about it. Just like someone else said its another tool in the bigger picture of a calorie deficit.
In my opinion a high protein low carb diet with weight resistant training at least 3x a week maintaining your goal calorie intake is basically all it is. Its just the will and dedication to stick to it for an extended period. The formula is easy and there are many ways to get there its just can you do it. That simple

You skip breakfast

I gave up breakfast for lent, mostly because I knew it was hard and found I was eating mostly poptarts on the go. Just really started IF on Monday, as I would drink a few coffees with sugar/cream when I got to work. So far, I would report the effects have been constant hunger and low energy. Hopefully, I will get over the hump soon and start seeing the benefits talked about. Also, peeing a ton more now that I am drinking more water.

I’ve been doing a program at the limit of IF. I’ve lost 50 lbs in 2.5 months doing a 47:1. Essentially, I just eat one meal a day 3-4 days a week. The other days are completely fasted.
For workout, I lift just before breaking fasts and run on full fast days. I’ve lost some strength, maybe about 10%. My running has markedly improved and I’ve been able to skip half of the half marathon training program I’m on with no ill effects.
I plan to transition to one meal a day once I lose a little more weight.

Guys that are IF 16/8 what kind of MACRO's are you getting in on an avg day?
I am around 217 right now, and really don't think I am eating enough. even though I am not hungry
1300 cals
90 Protein
100 Carb
30 Fat
Any thoughts?

I do 16/8, 1 PM to 9 PM is my window, because I like some wine after dinner.
Started kinda playing around in Jan, downloaded an app and doing it more often in Feb. I'm on my "skiny" belt hole which I haven't seen in over a year. I don't take it too seriously on the weekend, just try during the week. Feeling pretty good overall.
My app history shows 33 completed fast, 7-fast- average of 16.6 hrs, longest fast 18.7, longest streak 9 days.

No that's not nearly enough.

I'm assuming your trying to lose weight? Plug everything in and aim for 0.75-1.0 lb of fat loss a week. Any questions let me know.

My friend has been doing this to great results. I want to give it a try. Would a 16-8 fast three times a week be a good way to start before transitioning to an 18-6 or 24?
My friend has lost a ton of weight and is now doing a 5 day fast once a month. That seems a tad excessive but that the kind of person he is.
For those who do it, do y’all stick to low-carb during the eating period?

Also, does anyone drink sugar free Gatorade to replace electrolytes during a multi day fast? I’ve seen recipes for concoctions like salt, potassium chloride, baking soda, and epsom salt...

I could be wrong about this, but I believe you’re breaking the fast with the sugar / cream in the coffee. Thats probably part of your problem.
When I did it, it worked great. I would do fasted cardio in the morning and eat around noon. Hit the weights in the afternoon, eat my post workout and be done. Fit in perfectly. My biggest problem was I’d fall off on the weekends occasionally.
