Did a heavy squat snatch today for the first time in a while I ventured beyond 135.

Hit 185 for a couple and felt solid. The Nano 8s are incredible

I think I’m going to try some 8’s out and alternate with my Metcons.

Would joining CrossFit with no training on oly lifts and lack of flexibility be a terrible idea?

Should I try to learn the lifts on my own for a month or so before taking a class? Thinking about switching over for a few months so I can meet some people and I like the idea of training with a class.

I joined with basic knowledge. That was my reason for joining was to learn the Oly lifts. And to be honest it’s not like every day you are doing a lift. Unless you are doing comp training

No, I think it'd be a worse idea to learn on your own. Coaches will help you learn the movements and check your form through a workout. Going it alone can lead to bad movement patterns.

They will help you scale and do what you need to help you get the movements.

ETA

It takes a lot longer than a month to get comfortable with the Oly lifts anyway. Particularly the snatch. I've been going to CF for almost a year and squat snatch still eludes me... Takes a lot of mobility.

Is it crazy for me to say I loved this workout?

I used to roll my eyes during our bar only work in warm up. The shrug... I kinda get it now. Starting to really like a lift I've thought was dumb since I was a kid watching the Olympics.

Clean/jerk and then Fran today. Probably going to do jump up still, as the 21 set of singles with my poor kipping might take 21 minutes.

Today was a 25 min partner WOD.

10 cal row
5 push-ups

+1 push-up added per round.

P1 starts on the rower and gets 10 caps and then moves onto 5 push-ups. P2 gets on the rower for 10 cals when P1 starts his 5 push-ups and then does 6 push-ups.

My partner tapped out to do sit-ups halfway thru and I ended up doing 224 push-ups as we completed 31 rounds.

486 total reps. Only push-ups/sit-ups were counted.

I got 333. I was killing the rows, only 10-12 pulls for reach round. But my partner was not and I was P1, so early on there was a lot of waiting.

I'm getting a hang of slower but longer pulls on the rower to be more efficient.
