The deadlifts I'm fine with. HSPU not so much, but it's getting better. I was going to attempt it today but woke up late and needed to get ready for a night out with my better half. I've been working nights the last 2 weeks so it's nice to be back to a normal schedule.
I will say, I went to Anytime fitness this morning & attempted a few HSPU. They weren't pretty but I was able to string together 2-3 at a time. Between these & doubles, the Open has really helped me improve on movements I have been having a difficult time grasping. I'll take a stab at 18.4 either tmrw or Monday

Did 225x21 in 1:19 then dropped weights down to scaled.

Scaled felt really easy until the 9 pushups. I started way too fast. Added the 50lbs for the second 21 and hit a wall. Had to break it up in 4 pieces. Only made it through 1 bear crawl. I would be disappointed but for the fact that I was never going to make it through the 15 DLs anyway. I really need to work on DL.

This one was very deceptive. My PR on DL is 455#, but when I got to 315# on that DL it felt like it was 405#.

Brute Strength’s gymnastic coach recommends strict HSPUs if you can manage it during the Diane portion to limit your no reps on the new standard.

He said he had no problem with unbroken strict HSPUs but his max strict is 40+.

He didn't have a problem at all with them. I didn't get to watch because I was struggling through the workout at the same time, but he was cruising.

Did scaled. Made it through second bear crawl. Just went ahead and finished the workout. Damn that was rough!

I scaled and finished with one second remaining. Should have broken up the first round of deadlifts even though it wasn't feeling heavy yet. May or may not have had to redo a couple no-rep push ups

The new standard sucked. No reps piled up on HSPUs where I was a 1/4” from the line and didn’t finish Diane.
