Yep. Could definitely see him saying it will love or die with him. My gym apparently let our affiliation expire in May. These comments just made a slow transition more public/abrupt.

Hopefully this makes the gyms cheaper. The cost always kept me away.

Its only 3k a year so I wouldn't count on it being materialy cheaper. Maybe like $10/month over something.

Same here. Crossfit Madison is in a separate area of the same building as the gym I work out in. At $145 a month just to do CrossFit is absolutely asinine.

Its expensive, but its market competitive for anything that size. Barry's Bootcamp, Soul Cylcle, Orange Theory are all the same price.

I have all the shite at my house necessary to program my own WODS and never go back to the box, but I still pay my dues and go. You paying $20 for a gym and $120 for group motivation.

I used to feel the same way before I started doing it. I feel like it provides much more value to me personally than I ever thought it would. I think the class environment really helps me push harder & keeps me enjoying the experience, so I am much more consistent in actually getting good workouts in. I've never been in better shape, though I still have a long way to go to actually be 'in shape'.

If you don't have the same issues with not pushing hard enough or feeling motivated, I can agree that maybe CrossFit is too expensive for what you get out of it.

The appeal to the masses for CF has always been the cult...um, I mean, community aspect of it.

This would change nothing. The business needs to hire real business people to run it. Its never going to grow in a financial sense without a real executive team. Getting more people to pay you 3k a year isn't the way to commercialize into a real money maker.

GCF has several options.

Punch Card (10 classes): $120
Month to month unlimited: $165
6 month pay upfront: ~$870 (about 145/mo)
12 month pay upfront: ~$1500 (about 125/mo)

Hours before he posted a controversial tweet on Saturday night that has sparked backlash against his company, Greg Glassman, CrossFit's CEO and founder, told gym owners on a private Zoom call, “We're not mourning for George Floyd — I don't think me or any of my staff are,” according to a full recording of the meeting obtained by BuzzFeed News. “Can you tell me why I should mourn for him? Other than that it’s the white thing to do — other than that, give me another reason,” he asked a Minneapolis gym owner who had questioned why the brand hadn’t posted a statement about the protests across the country after the death of George Floyd.
