Constipation

I’ve had really bad constipation the last few months and it’s been getting worse. I’ve just got a Linzess prescription. I also use a couple of laxatives from Walgreens. My doctor said to double the dose. I have but not together. I’ll take both together tomorrow. This is mainly due to a side effect of another medication I take. I’m doing everything I can to get things going. Anyone have any advice? Or do you take Linzess. Maybe I’m doing it all wrong. I don’t want to re vist my nurse practitioner. This drug works for everybody but me it seems.

I exercise. I run. I just blew my lower back out last week at the gym so I can’t run. Yea I’ve heard from everybody cardio helps.

Not really. I get protein from cliff bars, oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate milk, meat

* fiber- oatmeal and fruit

Try mixing some psyllium husk with water and down it morning and night.

Snack on prunes and/or drink prune juice regularly. If you like cereal, All Bran with extra fiber also helps.

Drink a lot of water. Then drink a lot more. Everyday for week or so and see if it helps, mainly to get a status on your hydration baseline. I realized hydration levels are a huge factor for me in that dept.

Fiber pills plugged me up bc I didn’t drink enough water with them.

I use senna tea occasionally now, chased with a lot of water.

Steroids during chemo caused some serious constipation and this helped a lot.

Psyllium husk is a good source of fiber. Inulin is another prebiotic fiber source. Those coupled with a good probiotic should get everything moving.

get a gallon jug and fill it with water every damn day and drink it. Get CALM or another magnesium product and take at night. If you are lowcarbing, you need to add either a ton of fat and MCTs or you need to back off the fat and add white rice with your meals. If you happen to use Kratom, you need to quit b/c it will clog you up bad. You could also try a FODMAP diet

I respectfully disagree with all the fiber advice. Try lowering your sugar a lot and eat a lot less fiber and see what happens.

Verba Prima Psyllium Husks Powder.
Get cold water add 2-3 spoonfulls and mix thoroughly and gulp it down quickly. If not, it thickens and you’ll be eating it like pudding...lol
But you have to drink plenty of water during the day.

Do not take the linzess with other laxatives unless you want to stay home and know what’s it’s like for a colonoscopy prep.

Drink water, immediately afterwards eat a ribeye and all the fat loaded with an insane amount of butter. Then have more water immediately afterwards, then drink a cup a heavy cream.

If your're still constipated after that...
