Anyone experimented with these in high volume? I'm tempted to do some research to see how much volume it would take to get huge guads from this.

most likely not gonna happen. You can get nice definition and very firm quads but "huge"..... not likely.

It's difficult to build muscle without some progressive overload.

Especially with legs, because you're dealing with the largest, strongest muscles in your body. It's very achievable to do high rep, volume work with 185-225 on squats for most people just because the power/strength potential is so high.

One of my favorite workouts is

8 rounds
400 m sprint
50 air squats

I don't think it will get you "huge quads", but it will certainly make them scream

Maybe 100 meter sprint for me.

I've got herniated disks in lower back and torn labrum. Had to change my workout approach.

Split squats are better for bodyweight lower body stuff if you're looking to go that route.

Ok I've done those before. A little rough on the knees. I'm gonna Ramp up the volume on regular squats and report back in a few Months.

It shouldn't be that bad. It's really just a single legged squat.

While learning, hold onto something to keep your balance and knee tracking on point. As long as your knee tracking is on point, there's no reason it should be any worse than a normal squat.

Don't cut it high, either. That can cause patellar strain.

Try one legged squats for a little extra. If you dont have amazing balance already you're going to need to start off with a box just a foot or so under your arse and work your way down to a bench until you don't need anything to go parallel and back up. Swing your other leg straight out when you go down to help balance.

I worked up to 400-500 at a time. didn't get huge but it was definitely a workout. Protip: start slow. If you're already in decent shape you may be able to knock out 150 or more the first time, but you won't be able to walk the next day.

Add them on to the end of a monster volume circuit (Squats, lunges, extensions, curls, BW squats = 1 set) and never fully stand upright, keep the muscles contracted throughtut the movement. Have fun trying to sit on the toliet the next couple of days.

I would die after 100 right now.

I was doing sets of 25 in a circuit today and was getting winded but I'm not in good cardio shape. Legs felt fine but I have a long way to go to get conditioned.

I think my first goal is to be able to do a set of 100 in a few weeks.
