Bed wetting alarms for 5 y o.

Got a young one that has zero awareness of getting ready to pee at night. The other three kids did just just fine but this one simply doesn’t have any clue that the bladder is full.
My options:
1. Let child sleep w diaper on until it doesn’t happen. Minimize water before bed.
2. Counseling
3. Bedwetting alarms (preferred)
——-any suggestions on the alarms?

You may have gotten lucky with the others. I don’t think that’s uncommon at 5.

#1 and then #3 at 6.5 or 7 years old
It's not that uncommon. My stepson wet his bed until about 7 and then suddenly it just stopped and he was good. He wore nighttime diapers for years and then used the alarm for a few months. It seemed to work pretty well and was very loud

Make him pee before bed. Let him wear a pull up. What he’s doing it totally normal.

Totally normal. My 8 year old was wearing one of those overnight pull-ups until just recently. He’s had some digestive issues and we were mainly putting them on him for that but he still had a wet pull-up maybe 1-2 days a week when I get him up. Never thought about the alarms but a mattress pad and pull-ups have been great dealing with his issues. Nothing like doing laundry at 4 AM to realize you need to do a little to help out until they grow out of it.

My son was in pull ups until 8. We went with the bed wetting alarm option, and it took less than a week for him to stay dry through the night. He just needed something to make it click in his head to not piss himself in the middle of the night.

We just continuously woke up and took my 5 yr old to pee at around 10 or 11 for well over 6 months. Every once in awhile they will come to our room at midnight and ask one of us to take them pee. Now they sleep through the night or go by themselves.

I'm not there yet, but I'm going to give my input. If it's a continuous thing over and over, Just seems like the diaper will just let them say "f it", the diaper will get it. Like no consequence if I'm saying that right. I don't know what to try, I just don't think that's it. I have a 3 year old, so I'll keep my ears open for all tips.

If their bladder or whatever mechanism hasn’t developed yet to wake them up when they have to pee I don’t think you are doing any damage with pull ups. At some point it’s like getting upset that they can’t write correctly when the muscles in their hands aren’t fully developed.
There’s definitely an age when you need to figure out if there’s a problem but I’d say that’s around 7 or 8. But I’m not a pediatric nocturnal urologist.

You are there if you have a 3 year old. My 3 year old has been fully potty trained for well over a year, but she still has nighttime accidents. Thus, she wears a pullup to sleep in. My son was 5 or 6 when he quit having nighttime accidents. They were so sparse by that age that he slept without a pullup, but with a waterproof mattress cover. In any event, I don't think any kid says "frick it, I'll just piss in my diaper." Trust me, when they get to that age they don't like that wet feeling. My 3 year old will change herself into panties on mornings she wakes up wet!

make him pee before bed, limit water intake an hour before bed. have a mattress protector, its not a big deal. my 6 year old almost never has any issue with that unless we let him drink large amounts of water in the evening.

I'm hoping for the best. She went a while not peeing in the pullups, and we ran out. I said F it and just put consons on her. Knock on wood, no accidents yet. We just make she she uses the bathroom right before bed, and no water once we lay down. That's about the only thing I can throw out there.

I have a son that was an absolute dead sleeper. He routinely wet the bed and we tried everything. We did the pills, woke him up in the middle of the night, pull ups, bed wetting alarms, not letting him drink after dinner, and nothing worked.
Someone mentioned the Therapee system, which was like $400, which we did when he was about 8. It seems pretty stupid at first, but the process includes him marking off each morning what happened, and gave him gold stars when he made it through. They also have pre-recorded videos based on his progress, and the alarm worked better than any of the other ones. Within a week, he was barely wetting the bed and was completely over it in 4 weeks. Again, it seemed stupid, but it totally worked. I recommend this to anyone who has a kid with the same issue.
