For a heavy person. I’m 290 lbs. price is not an issue.

Hoka One Bondi 8

My podiatrist recommended these to me. Three widths. Can remove insert and use orthotics if necessary. I walk 45 minutes three times a week and also wear casually. They've been great.

Bought these Brooks Ghost 14s. I won't buy anything else.

I'm a fan of Adidas. With that said I had a pair that had the 100% foam soles. Those didn't last at ALL. Will not be getting any with foam soles again for walking/working out. these were used only at the gym and lasted maybe 6 months before the foam soles actually had concave voids in them.

My neighbor who just finished 4 years of track and cross country in high school swears by Brooks, same brand Jose mentioned above.

What's the heel drop on those? I've been disappointed how Brooks has moved away from minimal heel drop to some more of those big, clunky ones.

That's lower than I had assumed (and that they look) but still too high, IMO.

I second this. I have bad feet (have had 3 foot surgeries to date) and my orthopedist said I need to exclusively wear Hokas to help preserve my feet. I have them in 4 different colors and they are the only shoe I wear these days.

They look higher than they feel, honestly.

I can only wear addidas because they don't dig into my heels. They aren't really made for walking but I've tried every brand of higher end rinning/walking shoes and they all dig into my heels. I walk 20 to 25 miles a week on concrete and the kaptir cloud foams are comfortable and last me about 6 months

I don't see mine on Adidas' site any longer. They were almost identical to the Lite Racer Adapt 4.0 shoes except they tied; same sole and same top portion with no separate tongue. Extremely comfortable, just the foam sole wore out. At the time I only used them for about 10-15 miles a week on the tread mill and various indoor weight excercises. Never wore them outdoors. I may take a look at those when the ones I bought in a pinch wear out.

As far as comfort goes, I am on my 2nd pair of Skechers Go Walks. No laces to tie and as I said they are super comfortable.

I walk for an hour a day and my last 3 pairs have been Brooks Dyda. Softest ride I have ever worn and I have been running/walking for 40+ years. I get >500 miles per pair.

Hoka Bondi are great as mentioned. If you’re going Brooks for walking look at the Addiction.

(1) understand your gait - are you neutral, an over-pronator or an under-pronator (2) Find a brand that fits you foot well - tons to choose from, shoe fits vary widely by brand and by person (3) Pick level of cushion you prefer from within the best fitting brand's line - doesn't matter if its Hoka (make my feet hurt, wife swears by them), Brooks (make some great cushion shoes, but are 1/2 size off for me), Asics (fit me pretty well, just something that I can't put my finger on that isn't perfect) NB (Currently Fresh Foam 1080 is checking all of my boxes - neutral, as good a cushion as anything out there) and so on and so forth.

It's great if you have access to an athletic shoe store with runners that can help you with fit.

I ended up going with the Brooks Ghost 14. So far they are really comfortable.

I use Brooks Adrenaline if I know I'll be walking around a lot. Weird thing is I hate running/jogging in them.
