I'm depressed all day most days. Not severe depression but close to it. Need to call my doctor soon.

I’ve been diagnosed as bi polar and I’ve had very bad or severe depression which can make you feel hopeless.

Call.

Might be a chemical imbalance.

Could possibly be cyclothymia. Not as severe as manic depression, but you should still seek a professional diagnosis. Good luck.

Also don’t watch any news for a month and see if that helps.

Find a good therapist in your area. Please ask around and get references. We found out the hard way that some therapist are better than others......

Find a way to unplug. For me it's running. I can put on my headphones and put in a comfortable pace for hours. For my wife, it's fishing. She can sit there and watch a bobber ALL DAMN DAY and not get a bite. It's just her way of tuning out.

Good luck brother. God bless.

I think it's easy to be depressed nowadays, especially if you're spending a lot of time online. Go see a therapist. I see one weekly and I'm not majorly depressed. I'm more anxious than anything else, and its helped a lot just to make me look at things in different ways and deal with certain thoughts. It might take a while to find one. I've been trying to find a good therapist since around 2016, and I just recently found one who actually understands what I'm talking about.

I've deleted all my social media, completely stopped visiting reddit, and post here mainly for LSU football and whenever something piques my interest. Being more present has helped my anxiety, and my moderate depression.

I think if we are talking clinical depression its something totally different. I'm not a big proponent of medicine for things that can be dealt with by way of exercise and dietary changes, but severe depression usually requires medicine. My wife has severe clinical depression due to some stuff happening in her earlier years, and her anti depressant works wonders.

Going through it too brother, but I'm doing great as of late. Like other threads have said:

Exercise
Diet
turn off social media
therapy
Medicine change
Drink less alcohol
Smoke less weed

Take the steps. For me, I needed a therapist to show me the ropes. I look forward to my sessions and taking charge of my life. Hope this helps!

If you're biPolar get help NOW. You ca flip to manic any second and then the shite can really hit the fan. This is much more serious than getting some fresh air and exercise.

You should consider trying some intentional psychedelic experiences. Not tripping and going to a concert, but something actually based on wellness and working on yourself.

We really need a psychedelic sticky on this board.

But that stuff only treats symptoms - it doesn't attempt to get at the root of what's causing it.

What is your BiPolar diagnosis, BP 1 or BP 2? Prozac ain't enough either way. You need to get on a mood stabilizer pronto.

I'm sorry, I didn't see your bipolar comment earlier. I'm sorry, my friend. I hope the SSRIs can offer you some relief. Unfortunately, "mainstream" psychedelic practice - to the extent it exists - won't serve bipolar patients at present.

I would look into trying to get into one of the studies at Hopkins or such where I believe they actually are accepting some bipolar patients. (I know someone that tried to get their daughter in, please let me go check and get your more info.)

ETA: Apologies, it was UCSF.
