Wtf I didn't know this was actually a thing

How do y'all avoid chafing on your nipples when running? Obviously running with no shirt would be an easy fix, but I'd prefer to keep my shirt on.

Body Glide

Also... never wear cotton. Stick with polyester/microfiber running shirts.

Bandaids, although that could be super painful.
Vasoline on the nipple?

I use little circle bandaids

Dri-fit shirts, Nothing with large logos on front to weigh it down more

Body glide mostly, although not much helps during 13+ mile runs. Chapstick in a pinch (I always carry with me on long runs regardless). For my half marathons, I'd wear bandaids and they helped a lot but eventually fell off toward the end of the race. Wear Dri-fit or tighter clothes that don't rub.

Body Glide helps, but this stuff will absolutely make sure it doesn't happen. Stays on through swimming and heavy sweating compared to regular Band-Aids that eventually fall off. Also, doesn't really show through a thin running shirt all that much, which really looks awkward.

I get it bad. I've had red streaks down my shirt. Worst was when training with some liquid carb drink. I was about 12 miles into an 18 mile run when I realized my shirt was covered in blood. Forgot my bottle wasn't plain water and tried to rinse the shirt........that sting still haunts me. Nipple pain cut that run short at 12 miles.

my first half i was completely unprepared and rubbed them raw.

bandaid (if you shave) or body glide. definitely don't wear cotton, and honestly, the tighter the shirt the better. chicks don't get it (as bad) because their sports bra keeps a lack of friction.

me too. which is worse... cotton rubbing your nips every step, or tight microfiber that doesn't move at all when you run?

Some of the microfiber/athletic shirt materials are worse than cotton. It's all about the surface roughness of the material. How it is weaved. I have a nike singlet that I love for really hot weather. It's like not wearing a shirt. But if I don't tape up for runs over 6 miles, it will sand an 1/8" off my nips.

Yeah I wear dri-fit shirts that are pretty tight, not compression shirt tight but tight none the less. I guess the chafing starts when my shirt gets heavier from all the sweat.
