2023 healthy weight loss support thread
Posted on 1/3/23 at 11:58 am
Posted on 1/3/23 at 11:58 am
Weight log:
1/3 - 227.2
1/12 - 222.0
1/26 - 220.4
2/24 - 219.6
3/9 - 214.6
5/4 - 213.2
6/1 - 211.0
Not a challenge thread. Just a thread for those of us who need to lose weight. We can share progress and tips and goals and keep each other accountable but really it’s just to post weight updates and support.
I’m 6’2”
This morning I weighed 227.2. I have 30 or so more lbs to go to be in a healthy weight I’m happy with.
3 years ago I was approaching 300lbs. I changed my diet to cut out all fast foods and liquor and added in low impact cardio exercises. I dropped 40lbs from 2019-2021 slowly and kept it off.
Last year I added yoga and changed my diet again to add more salads and veggies and only eat out of my fridge during the week. I lost another 15.
I’ve been steady around 225-230 since August.
This year I’m adding in isometrics and light weights to build muscle and shed the last bit of weight while keeping my diet and cardio.
Small healthy goals for a better life instead of massive changes all at once that aren’t sustainable has been my goal the last 4 years.
Happy New Year and good luck to everyone

while i support the use of those for those that need it, its not single solution for everyone.
OP love the thread!!

Mounjaro is a no go right now unless diabetic. I would be interested in what is available right now at reasonable costs that is similar.

I dont have diabetes. I'm not even sure why you're suggesting those. If you're suggesting them as an artificial weightless supplement, no thanks. You can and should lose weight by changing your eating habits and adding in exercise. True weightloss for someone struggling with their weight is a lifestyle change. Not taking pills and hoping for the best.
Usually those of us who are morbidly obese have either self control issues, or are using food as an escape or coping mechanism. You need to confront those habits and feelings and deal with them in a healthy way.

Following for inspiration.
Last year I lost 47 lbs through whole food diet and consistent exercise. Put on 7 lbs through holiday and travel eating. I'm not beating myself up for it, just getting back in the groove. For me, the mental aspect of this journey has been huge. In prior weight loss attempts I ate well and exercised but didn't change my mindset. I didn't think of it as a lifestyle change, just a diet. Once I'd take off a few pounds, I was back to my old habits and of course, the changes didn't stick. This time, I'll just acknowledge the good food and wine I had through the holidays and get back on track.
Thanks for the thread, I'll be following

this, big time
not suggesting one should or shouldnt take it, but they are miracle drugs for those struggling. BUT they are not for everyone
HFP as far as whats availble, peptide science or a compounding pharm can get you the generic version but imo you are one of the ones that fall into the not right for catagory.

It's not for me. I'm just the researcher that passes along the info.

Hell yeah. Nothing replaces hard work and willpower. I think those drugs are going to be similar to the long term success rate as weight loss surgeries.

i would imagine unless you stay on them. they are healthy for you as they are anti aging and help control blood sugar but if you get on them, dont change habits then when you get off and the insulin induced hunger pains return....then you will have same issues
they will help shrink the stomach but they are not going to make you change bad habits
i say they are a mircle drug because they help people get control of the hunger and binging
but
i have seen some on reddit being pissed because they can no longer enjoy their sunday "FEAST" of red gravy and pasta with the family and only able to have 1 plate instead of the usual 3 because of the side effects
yes i am serious and yea....no amount of medicine or surgery is goign to fix them
bottomline is these drugs are literal miracles in a bottle, but if you get on them and cant be bothered to change the habits that made you fat to begin with.....yea you deserve to be fat and miserable....sorry for being blunt, but is what it is.

The same doctors that want you to inject poison to keep your job and will give you lady drugs no problem won’t provide you medicine to get a 6 pack or tren
It’s really messed up

It's all a conspiracy to keep us fat and lazy so we get more drugs.

It’s sad that they basically cure diseases that are self inflicted on purpose like aids and type 2 diabetes but refuse to make medicine for innocent hangover sufferers

I’m down about 30 or so since July. Technically that is estimated although I have an idea of my starting weight. I purposefully tried not to rely on the scale this go round. Wasn’t morbidly obese or anything but just felt like arse and looked like shite. Doing lifting and HIIT this year. Hoping for an honest to god beach bod by summer

Good idea on the thread. Here goes mine:
45 years old, 5'11" 226 lbs
During 2020 I had an awakening and dropping 28 lbs, ran a sub 8 minute mile at 220lbs and 43 years old (non runner here) and just generally felt great. My method was all over the map though. I generally stuck to intermittent fasting, but I was doing HIIT one day, German Volume Training the next, distance running the next. While it all worked, I believe I can do better and I may have actually increased some cortisol by doing some of the stuff I did.
2023 Keeping it real, keeping it simple.
Weight training 2x a week (compound movements, total body to start. Reps in the 8-12 range)
10,000 steps a day on non-weight training days, and will try to get at least 7,500 on training days.
1 - 30 min Peleton session per week
1 - Kettlebell flow session per week
An occasional run
Diet - Not a strict plan, but just whole foods and weighing out my portions. So far on my menu this week is chicken, sweet taters, rice, egg whites, overnight oats with blueberries and walnuts, tuna, protein shakes.
Goals - Mostly body recomp, don't care about weight or how much I can bench. Just want to feel good, look good. Would like to get to the 195-200lb range, trim the midsection, have shirts fit better. Dreams would be bowling ball shoulders and bigger quads. I'll jump on one of LSU777's programs once I get back in the groove and make sure I consistently train. I've had a hell of a year with acid reflux, back pain, hamstring tendonitis etc.

Honestly goal #1 I just want to brush my teeth without my tits jiggling at this point. Getting my stomach flatter than my chest would be goal #2
