Played 9 holes with my son this morning. I could have easily walked off if he wasn't there with me. Lost 6 balls on that goat track
. I was bad, but not that bad.

OP - ha! Like every freaking round! I’m a 20, and have fundamental swing issues I just can’t fix yet (casting). But then every now and then like Friday on the back nine where I parred four holes it’s fun. Try not think about score and just enjoy good shots.

I played golf beginning at the age of 7. I played with my grandfather, father and uncles. Played all kinds of different courses, ranging from easy to extremely difficult.
I played through middle school, junior high and high school. I tried to play collegiate golf, but after the coach said, "Get to scratch handicap, and then come talk to me" I burnt myself out on the game. I had no coach, and the amount of information versus today online was limited.
I would go to work or school and then hit bags of balls, or chip and putt. I would get better, then worse. Some rounds great (best 9 hole score was -2 under), some not. Best 18 hole score 74. I got burnt out on the grind. If I had a coach, probably would have flourished a bit more, but I didn't commit.
So yes is a short answer. I quit golf and limit myself to the occasional round every 6 months or year. My 11 year old is somewhat into the sport so I go mess around chipping and putting with him sometimes.
Point is, just play. Whether it is on the weekends with your son or dad. Whether it is during the week with buddies for a few bucks or bragging rights. Whether it is cathartic for you to escape the daily grind or stresses from life. If it is too much of a burden, and you HATE how you feel when you play, especially with a bad round, then yes, hang it up. If not, then just keep clawing away at it. My father wanted to give up 10+ years ago because his game became SO bad. He played 2x per week with buddies and it was to the point where it was no longer fun. He never gave it up. It's an outlet for him. Enjoy it.

One of the first times in my life today where I just didn’t want to be out there. Admirable 39 on the front. Just could not get a birdie putt to fall with multiple chances inside 10ft. Around hole 12 I was ready to just leave. Just tired of being out there. It showed that I completely lost focus when I Limped home with a 47.

I quit for 2 years recently due to back issues. Had been playing at least once a week for 20 years pretty much. It had become a little unfun and just something we did.. didn't really have that much fun out there.
The 2 year break made me really enjoy the game of golf again. And I'm playing better than I have in a while. A break isn't a bad thing.

I am close. Too many stretches of holes where I hit it so poorly off the tee that finishing the hole is just zero fun.

I am close to quitting myself. Can’t get everything going in one round. Practice sessions are great, but doesn’t transfer to the course. Hunting and fishing season is here and we are hopefully breaking ground on our new house soon, meeting with architect next week.

I love golf but it doesn't love me back...

I was about to quit and just hunt all duck season. Maybe try again in the spring.
Then, I bought a new driver. I’m back

Just when I was thinking quitting may be the best thing for me, I have a partial round(rain) like today that drags me back in. Zero fat shots which is what I battle and decent enough distance off the tee to not be depressed about my approaches. I need to keep playing.

Yall ever think about quitting?
I’ve quit 100 times. Usually for about 24 hours.

You’ll have to pry my club out of my cold, dead, hand.

worked back to find my old swing and I’m a 7.3 now.
This is becoming the death of me. Played since 9 years old. Low handicap until life happened and didn't get to play but a few times per year for like 10-15 years. Now back into it for a few years and I'm absolutely lost.
Simple issue, impossible to fix: I can 'feel' my swing in my mind, but the lack of flexibility and resulting 1/2 to 3/4 backswing has me over-compensating. So I quit and hit the range every day for 3 weeks straight to re-tool my swing. Feels great, clubhead speed is back for the most part. But my psychotic dumb arse can't translate it to the course. I'm a double-bogey golfer now and golf has become zero fun.

Putting in work won’t fix it! You have to know exactly what to fix. You tube won’t tell you that. You need video and some regular instruction from a pga teaching pro, not a buddy who is a good player.
