What steps do you take to protect your clubs while traveling with a soft travel case?

My hard case is nice but I cannot fit my driver in it and normally that isn't a concern but I want to take it on this trip so I bought a soft case.

Other than a stiff arm and wrapping towels around a few clubs is there anything else you guys that use these bags recommend?

Don’t fly with a soft case. Buy a hard case that fits your clubs.

Buy a hard case.

Otherwise, remove any head that you can and put it in a carry-on.

Bungee cord all clubs together tight. Provides for added strength and helps prevent a point of stress snapping a single club. For extra protections, I use some bubble wrap or even a thin egg crate mattress that I cut up. That with a stiff arm has always worked well for me

The difficulty of storing a hard case once you get there makes it impractical IMO

I use a soft case, a stiff arm and remove my driver head and store it in the headcover in the bag. Have never had any problems

as poster above mentioned, bungie cord around clubs (with stiff arm in middle) and a towel snaked through and around worked fine for me. i did not remove driver head - just kept it closest to the stiff arm.

Well I feel like an idiot because I never even consider removing the driver head.

Bought one of those POS support things and it broke.

Just buy a 50/50 case. This one below is phenomenal.

I take off heads and put them in carry on cuz I don't trust them TSA bastids. Wrap towels in between and around shafts. Haven't had a problem.....yet

Take any removable heads off and wrap heads in towel.

Could use ship sticks.

Airlines throw stuff on concrete. Destroyed some mini tour players set a few weeks ago.

If you are only playing once, get a great rental set to try out.

I have never had a issue with my clubs in my Club Glove travel bag.

I wrap a towel around the heads, put on the rain cover and put it in the CG bag.

I have traveled a lot with my clubs, so far so good.

I have a club glove soft bag and have traveled with it on airlines minimum once a year but usually 2-3x/yr and never used the stiff arm. Sometimes I use a towel, but most of the time I don’t.

Didn’t think of removing driver head, but maybe I will for my trips this week.

I have never had any issues, but that could always change. Soft bag storage and transport makes hard cases not an option for me.

I will say these threads always male me paranoid.

Also, I highly recommend using an airtag for your golf bag. Completely saved my buddies on their trip to Wisconsin last year when they got rerouted to Chicago and connection was cx and they had to find their bag so they could rent a car. Saved them hours trying to find bag most likely.

I have the bag boy brand stiff arm and it's made really well. I also bought the Bagboy t-10 that has the hard shell up top. $180 for both. I feel like that was a good deal and adequate solution.

Like others have said, Club Glove with stiff arm. Never taken driver head off or wrapped towels.

Probably flown with clubs in club glove 12-15 times no problems.

An airline did bend my stiff arm once, glad I had it!
