Ok, make it 3 majors.

So Tony Jacklin and Johnny Miller shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame? What about Julius Boros?

Just set some real criteria.

One major should not do it.

How many “hall of famers” should there be?

5 per decade? 10 per decade?

What major count would you say is hall of fame worthy? 2, 3?
How many PGA or worldwide wins? 15, 20?

Why what other sport does that?

So 80 PGA Tour wins and 1 major isnt worthy of the HoF?

Depends on how many deserve it based on their play

Well that of course depends

Would you have established criteria?

Would you have voted for Tony Romo for football HOF? He was good, but not a hall of fame worthy.

The hall of fame in golf should be based on some threshold of accomplishments in the majors and a threshold of total wins.

1 major does not scream hall of fame IMO.

Frittelli played golf right down the street at UT. This isn't surprising actually. He's also really good on Pete Dye courses

No

No, but golf is completely different than the NFL with 32 teams and one championship so I'm not sure why you even asked

I never said it did.

So without some sort of threshold criteria, how do we decide who is a “hall of fame” golfer?

You are wasting your time. If you say the sky is blue Mingo will say it is white.

He had an absurd take, that's not my fault.

Fred Couples we could argue about because he's fairly borderline as far as the Hall of Fame. What he said is ridiculous and would exclude some of the best players of all time, then he moved the goalposts and made a totally apples to oranges comparison

My criteria would be:
3 majors and you’re in the hall
15 tour wins and you’re in the hall

This is objective and reasonable.

3 majors, cool.

15 wins, maybe 20.

I looked up the women’s criteria for hall of fame:

Must be/have been an "active" LPGA Tour member for 10 years

Must have won/been awarded at least one of the following - an LPGA major championship, the Vare Trophy or Rolex Player of the Year honors; and

Must have accumulated a total of 27 points, which are awarded as follows - one point for each LPGA official tournament win, two points for each LPGA major tournament win and one point for each Vare Trophy or Rolex Player of the Year honor earned.

Is it the PGA Tour hall of fame or the golf hall of fame?

So, for the record, you're OK with a player that's tied for 9th in career majors not being in the hall of fame?
