If you like golf for the golf, not sure why you would be a fan of LIV.

like i said, i'm a fan of watching golf. i have no allegiance to any particular tour. i watch pga, liv, lpga, korn ferry, or college. not sure what my viewing preferences have to do with you. i simply said that i didnt find the logos or the presentation of liv to be a distraction or take away from my viewing pleasure.

I’m just asking someone who likes “golf for golf” and they didn’t need anything new or fancy, why would the emergence of LIV be a positive?

He was simply saying the graphics/leaderboard on the LIV broadcast didn't bother him because he's more interested in the golf than the look of the leaderboard. Not every single post someone makes is about whether LIV is good for golf or not.

Golf board is kinda becoming like LIv twitter. It’s funny to see the difference when it’s moved to MSB

Are you implying that they're interfering with that and the OWGR?
I'm implying that the PGA made it clear they would be left out of certain things, that's not the PGAs decision on what those are. These guys are completely selfish and took the money, they knew there would be things that didn't go their way. You're even more rich than you were, great, but I am not going to watch to compete on a Putt Putt tour.

CBS has been better than NBC with commercials and coverage. I’m interested to see how they do on their first week of the season this year. Hopefully they’ve made some improvements.

If the top 40 guys in the world form up their own men’s group and play 15 events a year with only themselves should they get points?

Yes?

All these post about LIV golf and how much people don't like it or aren't watching it just makes me want to watch it more.

Live golf is living rent free in peoples heads lol.

Keep advertising for them

Should be about who you beat, not some arbitrary standard of “real”

So if the next LIV event was at a putt-putt course they should get rankings points because other LIV guys participated?

Thats ridiculous. If the same 40 guys play against each other every year based on a contract you have no clue what their actual standard is. That’s why having a truly open sliding tour on and off is 100% necessary

If we started your tour 6 years ago someone like Rickie Fowler would have stayed top 40 in the world through his slump. Would that have been accurate?

LIV had players far better than their ranking. And you know who is at fault? LIV the organization. The OWGR made it clear they are happy to give them points but they need to be an open tour where the door swings both ways. So how did LIV respond?

Last season, just 1 player gained access to the league via their feeder tour, making up less than 2% of the field. Even if you add in the 3 players from the promotion event, they still gave more spots to guys with guaranteed contracts than they did qualifiers. That’s a problem. LIV is making the conscious decision to not get ranking points. It’s their choice. Direct your anger at them

Look at the signature events on the pga tour. In just 8 events, there will be ~65-70 different players getting ~190 to 200 of the total ~590ish starts. That’s movement in the events that LIV fans says “are set in stone”. In a liv season there is almost 0%

Do you think 49/52 players on LIV are there because of guaranteed contracts? Bc that’s absolutely not true.

There were 38/54 spots taken after last season. They filled the roster with 16 players. Don’t forget that finishing in the Top 24 locks in your spot for the next season.

They cannot coexist.

Hmm I wonder why Rahm is still talking about how he hopes he can play in those events again real soon even though he just signed a multi-year deal with LIV.

The path forward is a PIF/PGA merger where the 2 tours coexist & you get the best players playing against each other more than 4 times a year.

auburn is 1 game away from 4 losing season in a row. They aren't anywhere close to top 6 right now. Missouri is above them

If the PGA and LIV both require their members to play 14 to 16 events plus the four majors how many times do you think there will be cross pollination where they are playing on the opposite tour per year? I though they big attraction, besides the guaranteed money, for the liv guys was playing less?

LIV doesn’t have to have a 14 week season. They’re just doing that now because they have nowhere else to play.

LIV absolutely could transition to a late summer/fall schedule as well.

I think that just kind of depends on who you are. For guys later in their career like Poulter, Westwood, Stenson, Perez, etc. it’s probably pretty nice.

For younger guys who still have bigger aspirations I think they’re fine playing more.

Frustrating part is that without all of the LIV funny money from the Saudis oil fund, there would be zero chance any of those players would have left the PGA tour. In the end, the players win and the fans lose.

None of them would have left if Jay would have gotten a $3bn investor years ago. Phil tried to tell them
