Louisiana is full of little 9 holers. I grew up playing Eastland in Haughton and Pine Hills in Minden. Both looked really good at times and pretty crappy at others but man me and my buddies loved them.

What are some other small town courses y’all grew up on?

I didn't include these because they're big city 9-hole courses

I learned to play at Selman (the old Selman w/ Mr. Bill Jones).

Played a lot of those in your area on the Grapefruit tour back in the day! Trails End, RCC, Advance CC, Haynesville, Mansfield, Winnfield, Springhill, Homer - even played up at Plain Dealing and Magnolia...lots of fun tournaments, Calcutta's and parties.

D'Arbonne

I played there this weekend for the first time and was pleasantly surprised with the conditions. Super nice people as always around that area too. My papaw lives on the other side of the lake so I cant believe I hadn't got out there until this past weekend.

Bayou CC in Thibodaux. It was a hoighty-toighty club when I was growing up. You had to wear blazers to eat in the main dining room, everything was on a charge account.

They used to do a deal on Tuesday’s where if you played with a member, it was cart fee only. 9 holes was $3.50 and beers were $1.50 in the clubhouse after. They’d put out baskets of garlic bread croutons on the tables to snack on. $5.00 and you had nine holes and a cold pop.
We had to give all the beer money to my buddy who’s dad was the member.

Its depressing Thibodaux doesn't have a decent golf course. Bayou CC isn't even playable at times.

La Tour/Ellendale/Atchafalaya are all semi-close, but not close enough.

Believe it or not, at one time Fashion Golf Club behind the courthouse in Hahnville was actually in pretty good shape. Fairways were never great but the greens used to be really nice, just tiny and all sloped like a jump ramp. It was always packed and had a fair sized membership. It had gotten to the point a few years ago of being unplayable but I've heard the greens are decent again and there is grass in the fairway.

Live less than 1/2 a mile from there and haven't played it in a year.

LOL. My grandmother lived right by Neville so I pretty much walked to Muny everyday when I was a kid.

I took lessons from Johnny Myers but the man who really taught me about the golf swing was an older guy that always practiced every afternoon on the hole right next to Parkview Church. His name was Frank Walker. Every time I passed him I had to stop and get a lesson. I actually got to be pretty decent but golf really wasn't cool like football in high school so I kinda dropped it until I got into college plus my golf team had some legit PGA talent so they didn't need me.

I grew up playing at Gonzales CC, we use to have some awesome games! Would love to be able to play there again, that ain’t happening as the whole course is full of houses where fairways and greens once were! Sad!!

Scott Myers, Bob Cooper, just to name a few. Johnny Myers was a legend.
