Headed to LIV

quote:

Garcia countered that the rules official was too quick with his timing. Understandably upset at the ruling, the 2017 Masters champ—in a scene caught on PGA Tour Live and shared over social media—proceeded to yell the following: “I can’t wait to leave this tour," Garcia said. Microphones also picked up Garcia saying he "Can’t wait to get out of here," and "Just a couple more weeks until I don’t have to deal with [the rules official) anymore.” He finished with several expletives directed at the ruling.

quote:

Thursday’s comments are noteworthy given reports that Garcia is among those considering jumping to the aforementioned LIV Golf series. The Spaniard has been a frequent participant at the Saudi International—an event sponsored by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which is also backing the LIV Golf endeavor—and according to a Telegraph piece is “willing to snub the Ryder Cup” in order for a guaranteed payday.

Oh nose! A guy that isn't a threat to win any meaningful tournaments for the rest of his career is leaving for good!

And he refused to speak to reporters after the round.

He’s always been a little bitch. Slamming clubs, spitting in the cup, destroying tee markers…

So many people butt hurt over players leaving for another tour and it’s hilarious how they are melting

I don't care what Garcia said, I'd like to know more about the ruling.

When does the clock start when looking for your ball? It should start when you're in the area you know it landed. It shouldn't start when trying to get to the area you know it landed. By that one could say, start the clock while walking off the tee box. If my assumption is true from the video I saw, the rules official starred the clock when Garcia was trying to get to where he thought his ball landed. Which to me would be grounds for the argument Garcia had. Again, with what I saw and heard, seems to me that official did jump the gun and that's bullshite.

If you watch the video, Sergio had a very good point. The official started timing him too early. I know money talks, but the Euro tour has said players who go to LIV won't be allowed to participate in Ryder Cups anymore. If players like Sergio, Poulter and Westwood defect, the Ryder Cup will take a big blow.

Agree with you. However, the area he was looking had grass that was waist high almost. Doubt he would have found it anyways.

Those guys are on the way out anyway. I doubt they would even be worth a captains pick 2 or 3 years from now.

Poulter and Westwood have a better shot at being a captain than a player next Ryder Cup.

Ok great. And like almost every job in the world, you go to a rival organization expect to be fired/blackballed by your old one

What’s the confusion?

Surprised no one has posted the PGA’s response. Sergio was right to be pissed.
