What’s the going rate for initiation fees and then membership fees? Initiation fees are typically 3x’s annual dues? Is it worth it? Anyone have experience outside of the state they live in year round? Opinions or experiences,

There is no set number or formulaand it varies wildly. You would have to ask the club or a member. Initiation fees at most places vary from $0 to $200k. Prices have risen dramatically the last few years, making the value proposition for many highly questionable at the moment

I can tell you the one club we are likely joining soon has a $5000 initiation fee tha can be paid two ways.

$5000 up front or $1000 up front with higher dues for 5 years until the $5000 is met which is a good option for those who arent totally sure they want to make the commitment.

Such a broad question. Kinda like asking the pricing of a car. You wanting a Camry or a Bentley?

Theres alot that goes into that and really depends on what you're looking for vs what you're getting and what you have available to you as a public option.

Depends on the club and the location

Yes sir. Im sick of having to drive an hour or more for a decent and enjoyable golf day and 30+ minutes for a driving range or practice facility.

Beau Chene is about 1200. Not bad initiation fee. I’m about to rejoin out there or go to Money Hill

It's either $1000 for the medalist or $5000 for the Eagle membership. The only difference in the two beyond the initiation fee are the monthly dues. The medalist is higher for 5 years until you have reached the $5,000 amount for the eagle membership then you are converted to the eagle unless you have quit before then.

That’s where I’m at. Been there around 3.5 years. No complaints from me about the course.

Having a nice range and 2 courses are a huge plus.

They’re doing some upgrades too throughout. Adding some better practice bunkers. Lengthening hole #1 on the oak. It’s a 500yd par 5. Added some irrigation.

Ive been playing there for quite some time with a good friend and last weekend when we played I thought things were in really good shape. I knew about the driving range work they delayed till April but didnt know about the changes to hole 1.

Any clue how long they plan to keep the range closed and if members will have access to Tchefuncte during that time?

4K if you’re under 40, 8k if you’re over 60.

Pissed me off, but the manager told me

A) You’ll play more
B) You can afford to pay more
C) Don’t like it, doesn’t bother me if you go elsewhere

I appreciated the honesty

Sorry for the hijack, thinking about moving into BC and obviously joining the club. Any suggestions/concerns about buying in one area or another(heard the marina side is not as nice?). Also, is it pretty dead out there late evenings? Planning on getting my own cart and taking the kids out to play a few holes most evenings. TIA

I've walked the Magnolia course plenty of times in the afternoons without seeing a person on the course.

i'm near the marina side.......what i can say is i think its the "older" of the 2 sides, as far as houses go. we bought a house that was built in 1983 and have put some work in. some contracted, some ourselves.

with regards to the evenings, most of the time its dead. spring and fall weather it'll be a little more occupied, or the days that they host internal or outside tournaments, the other course will fill up even into the evening time. most tourneys are on oak.

LSUfan4444 - to your question about the range and tchefunte, i really have no clue. i haven't heard anything but i'll try to ask this weekend and update this.
