What about old BR Open format. Being +4 and finishing with 2 doubles then winning your flight?

4 man scrambles invite cheating. 3 man scrambles with 2 teams on the hole usually play out pretty fair

In scrambles, it’s a given that teams are going to cheat. It really sucks.

A team in a scramble I was playing posted a 50. The annoying part was that there was prize money associated.

So, heard there was a 64 turned in at BR Open by a guy that WD after 9 holes. Is that true?

Also heard Elston showed up late to tee time and teed off after the group finished the hole. He was penalized 2 strokes and not DQ. What is BREC doing?

Oddly enough I’ve played on three teams that won scrambles.

First time was a 3 hole blind draw where they reversed the score of the last hole drawn. We drew Birdie-Birdie-Double Bogey.

Second I think was a blind draw.

Third we won at -21. But I played on a team with a guy that played college golf, a guy that regularly was 325 off the tee, and a single digit handicapper. We had a double eagle on a par 5, chipped in for birdie twice, and I sank a 40+ foot putt for a birdie. It was insane.

It’s not BREC’s fault that one guy that is a tool tried to turn in a scorecard with a forged signature. They DQ’d him.

This is the first I’ve heard of the other issue with a player being late for his tee time.

Wasn’t blaming BREC for somebody turning in a fabricated scorecard. I just think it is comical that someone would try and cheat like that.

I was asking why brec didn’t DQ Tristan?

May try some of these out. I like the atmosphere of tourneys every now and then.

I have never understood cheating at golf. A win via cheating just wouldn't feel good to me. A second or third place finish with no cheating would feel far better than a win cheating.

Play your normal round.

At the end, they draw 3 of 18 holes out of the hat. Say they pick #2,6&14. You take the score you marked down from 2&6, and reverse the score on 14. (Birdie becomes bogey, eagle becomes double bogey, etc)

Winners are determined by these three scores.

That's a bullshite way to do it. a 4 stroke swing if you eagle that one?

True but it basically makes pencil whipping irrelevant.

I played in a scramble one time that had mulligans and “throws”. Each player could pick up their ball and throw it anywhere they wanted and it wouldn’t count as a stroke.

That was pretty awesome.

Best one I ever played in was called "The Supers Revenge!"

Pin locations on edge of a ridge on a two tiered green
One was three inches from the back of the green...

one he even put the hole off the green on the fringe.

He has a hole where he stuck the flag in the ground on the right side of the green but when you got up there you realized the actual hole was on the left side.

He had a hole where he put a tee in every unrepaired or poorly repaired pitch mark from the previous weekend and you had to putt around and through them...

Par 5s that were cart path only...

Sprinklers going off right in front of the tee box...

one par 5 was played as a par 4...

they double rolled a green to make it super fast but the rest were normal...

two holes where they switched the tee to green path (ie tee off from #6 tee box but play across a pond or parallel fairways to the #9 green, and then 9 tee box to 6 green)...

this was a fun tournament and all the money went to buying new greens mowers for the super and his crew. If your course hasn't ever done something like this, give it a recommendation.
