re: Club Repair/Custom Clubs

Testing the waters some but wanted to know if there was anyone in the area that does all that type of work, how the quality was, if they are certified, etc.
I think with the growth of golf since Covid, the need for custom work, repair, etc. is there. Just don’t know if there is a huge market in Baton Rouge. If you would could walk in a place, get fit on Trackman, have access to every shaft on the market, build a full set, putter studio, etc. would people in Baton Rouge support it?

Club Repair/Custom Clubs

Anyone in Baton Rouge do club repair these days? Custom set builds? Custom stamping, refinishing clubs, a true fitting from putter to driver? I follow so many guys on instagram that do all kinds of club work and fittings. Would Baton Rouge support a really good independent golf shop?

The Island is getting good Baws…played in the Dow Tournament on Tuesday and was shocked at how good it has gotten. Greens are thick, a little slow but true. Fairways and Tees are really good. Bunkers are obviously a work in progress.

Why all the down votes for Burkstaller, he helped me a few years ago. I am way more consistent these days from his help.

You are obviously blind. Greens really good, Tee boxes and bunkers are worst in the state. Fairways thin like tigers hair line.

$25 green fee? This is most likely the reason. No one in Baton Rouge wants to pay for the conditions they want at a public facility.

Are you a member anywhere or just play free agent?

When the last time you played all those? Played Greystone today. Greens are making a come back. Looks like they pulled a small

Have you seen the place? No way it could be revitalized...

What do you expect two days after that much maintenance at once?

By the maintenance crew most likely.

I mean who does that? And then acts like it isn’t a big deal.

Travis Coxe, IMO, is way to technical and is like talking to a tree stump.

Anyone here have a junior or know a junior taking lessons at Golftec? Pros and Cons?
Heard lots about Burkstaller at Greystone. Can anyone give some direction?

There is plenty of money in Louisiana. My point is that people in Louisiana do not care to spend their money on golf. They do not care about it as much as other places in the south.

It seems most people on here expect private club amenities, and course conditions on a municipal budget.
People in Baton Rouge or Louisiana for the most part have no appreciation for golf. You have 25-30 primo golf course in the state. Compared to just the Birmingham area where 30 courses in the metro area out of 35 are perfect. People there care about golf. They also hunt, fish, have college football, etc. just like Louisianaians.
Just my opinion. I have lived in multiple states in the south and Louisiana and Mississippi are the worst golf states in the southeast. People simply to not appreciate golf, have the time or money for it.

What should golf courses charge to be considered “nice”?
Any idea what it costs to maintain a golf course in great condition?
