The big question is: will tournaments going forward be 72 holes with cuts, or 54 holes with no cuts? Or some combo of the 2?
Not many enjoyed the LIV format. I doubt they adopt much if any of it.

Dude thinks only the Wesley Bryans of the tour are pissed
I said the Wesley Bryan’s don’t matter. I never once said how the designated bigger guys feel about it, I only said their opinions are all that matter
quote:Thats what I said. Notice the question mark?
The tour doesn’t care about Wesley Bryan unfortunately. What are the big dogs of the tour saying? The designated guys

I could see this turning into the same format as tennis. Major and elevated 72 holes. Everything else 54.
Assuming the elevated events gets cut down to roughly 8-10 from the 14 now.
Eta: sure as hell won’t be a shotgun start. They will still want 130+ fields

LIV got an investment and significant seat at the table at the highest levels of golf. That was the goal. There isn’t going to be a big fight to implement any of these things unless it makes sense monetarily.

More global and team events will probably be the only significant impact. And maybe more pasty guys in shorts.

O come on, don't you remember, 54 hole events shouldn't count towards OWGR.

Between them I lost complete interest two years ago. frick all of them and their leagues. Millionaires crying for more money. I barely even watched the Masters, which I loved.
They can all go to hell. As for me, I’ll go hit some balls

Do you think going forward, the new tour will look like LIv or the PGA? Which structure, sponsors, courses, etc will they maintain the most? Which management will they retain the most?
My guess is they will have some events that look like LIV going forward. 90% of the time, i will look like PGA.

All I know is that this can't be good for the Zurich Classic.

I doubt this new product will look anything like LIV did.
The format didn't resonate well and it didn't work on TV or even garner much interest from the networks.

Hopefully, this brings the Tour back to Doral.

Ah, asking innocent questions because you thought maybe some of these guys are happy to be finding out like this or at all that their loyalties were discarded? That the money they left on the table was scooped up by the "player's tour" they were members of?
You didn't come in here to get educated, because who on earth could tell you something you didn't already know? You came to spin and stack bad takes on top of bad takes.
Also, not for nothing, but "the Wesley Bryans of the tour don't matter" angle is awful as well. I promise the tour isn't thinking like that.

The team aspect was one of the few things that they did different that I liked. PGA players on twitter are reacting like they will have a team format. I don't see it happening, but I think it would be cool. It doesn't effect the tournament at all, it's just added competition and more money.

The Golf Board will never get a stiky. Somehow this gets a sticky on the MSB but not on here

LIV looks slightly hypocritical thru this and some of the fans that acted like LIV was in a perfect place without the PGA Tour look a little dumb as well. Some fans like me that acted like LIV was irrelevant look dumb too, but obviously the PGA Tour looks the worst in all this.

It’s over, take the L and move on. PGA tour sold out.

LIV golf sucked, and wasn’t going to work. Hence why the Saudi’s were willing to strike this deal.

Rahm should punch JM in the throat the next time he sees him.
