If you could play one, which would you choose?

Everyone will say the preserve. I will say grand bear. It is just a great experience being away from everything and playing in peace and quiet.

Yeah, I don't think you can go wrong with either course. I have only played each once, but I think Grand Bear was my preference.

The preserve is better if your not worried about the extra cost.

We just came back from a group golf trip (8 of us) down there during masters weekend.

Grand Bear was cheaper, very nice conditions, awesome burger shack at the turn, Round was 6 hours and was miserable with the slow pace of play...

Preserve was more expensive, immaculate conditions, awesome people, 10 out of 10 would play there again.

They're both great, but The Preserve is nicer IMO. If I could only play one, it would be The Preserve.

Grand Bear is about $100 cheaper though.

Just played The Preserve a little over a week ago. It was amazing, Bring loads of balls. There are a lot of waste areas. It’s a beautiful course, requires a lot of strategic shots.

My group was going to play Grand Bear, but they punched the greens on the 4th and we played the 5th and 6th.

Want to piggy back on this if OP will allow it.

We'll be in Ocean Springs in a couple weeks, playing The Preserve, but don't really want to trek over to Grand Bear, due to a hoard of children back at the house. What condition is Shell Landing in for a casual Sunday morning? I assume, not to the same level, but we're not looking for premier accommodations. Just don't want to show up to disappointment.

Never played grand bear, but i will say if you play the preserve they offer stay and play packages that are hard to beat. The time's I've been to preserve I've loved the experience and the course. We are going again this year a stay and play package with a night at the Palace is 215 a golfer if you share a room and 250 if you want a single room golf is included in that rate.

If I had 10 rounds to split and price isn't a factor, I'd go 9 at the preserve, 1 at Grand Bear

Will also chime in on this. The starter was an awesome guy. (waiting on our tee time) He gave us about a 20 minute overview of everything about the course and where everything was located.

The staff in the clubhouse were all incredible too. We hung out for a bit after the round getting drinks and the service was awesome.

I like the seclusion of Grand Bear. Both are nice

i love both!!! played grand bear around 4 times, played the preserve just recently in February.

I personally like grand bears "quaintness" in the forest of pines.

preserve's greens in February were really not fair!! lol ironically the weekend i was there the PGA was at pebble beach and the balls there that were rolling off greens at Pebble, I actually had 2-3 similar instances at preserve. windy as shite, and one of my best ball striking days back to back. but scored OK for me (90/88), and i lost a couple of strokes due to balls rolling off with the wind, or just the insane speed of the greens.

The Preserve to me is the nicest course in this area and that's including Fallen Oak.

We played both a few weeks ago and Grand Bear is not in the shape it used to be in. Greens were slow and some were having some dead spot issues. The entire second half of the fairway on #5 (par 5 with the creek down the middle in the driver landing zone) was dead. We heard that whatever casino was associated with them no longer is and it's a different ownership group. Hope this was just a bad time to go and not a sign that the course is slipping.

I think Shell Landing has been a good value the few times I've played it

Shell Landing is a pretty nice course. Not on the level of The Preserve or Grand Bear, but it’s a good course.

Good deal. That's what I'm looking for. A good value that won't be a let down after playing The Preserve.

Shell’s greens are generally always in good shape. It’s got some character, as you play some of the holes in the trees and some of them throughout the marsh.

It’s a pretty chill place, just make sure you check to see if they have a cart girl running.

Another one that is nice to play, although no where near there is Windance. Super nice and accommodating staff there as well.
