There's one here where I live.

Dumb question- when you get fitted, is it for a specific brand of mfg (ie do they only fit you for Ping clubs)? It's been almost 20 years since I got fitted for my Pings and Titleist driver. I can't recall if where I went was a Ping fitter or I got to choose.

I am thinking of doing iron fittings.

Do they pressure you to buy from them? What did you do with your specs?

No pressure to buy. Was going to take a few weeks to come in, so I called around and bought from Golf Connection. They had the driver in stock

They don't pressure you to buy, but I've had them tell me before that they would try to match a competitors price if you are satisfied with the service and want to give them your business.

A couple years ago I went to BR location and was hoping to get a swing eval. Was handed a print out of pricing on fittings w/purchase of lessons, etc. I asked about the pricing and was told it would be preferred if I purchased through them. I wasn’t looking for new clubs, so I walked out. Stayed away from there ever since.

Was thinking of doing driver fitting at one in Metairie. Guy told me we’d try all different brands of heads with different shafts and would take of $75 from the price if I bought from them. Hope that helps.
Side note: I buy, build, trade and sell clubs so no way I’d buy brand new from them. I’m not nearly good enough to buy a brand new club and could get/make what I needed for much cheaper.

I don’t know about Golftec specifically but any third party fitter should have all the major brands of clubs to see what you hit best. You can request a specific brand or brands and focus on those. The only time I can think of you’d be limited to one brand is if you went to a Ping, Callaway, Titleist, etc demo day at a course and did a fitting

Anyone have experience with a fitting helping game? I’m a major high handicapper who loves and plays a lot of golf. My driver is like a lot of high handicappers I play with: ok drives, pip ups, and the occasional bomb.
Would a fit help me?

I would suggest lessons before a fitting. You want to be able to have a good repeatable swing. Then go get fitted with that. This comes from a guy currently going through this process

High handicappers should spend their money on instruction versus equipment 100% of the time.

If you can break 100 I think it is worth getting fitted. If you can't break 100 I would use the money towards lessons.

I’ve done the Golftec fitting and would echo what others have said. The guys at the Baton Rouge location are super laid back and will not pressure you at all. If you have a high handicap, then getting your swing down with lessons and instruction should definitely be the priority over fitting. The fitting takes about an hour and half and you will hit multiple clubs, lengths, and lofts. It is very insightful and gives you an idea of what you need instead of guessing.

I've gotten lessons recently and I feel like I have maxed out what I am going to "pick up" lol. They have definitely helped but I am far from consistent

Get fit when it's your equipment holding you back and not you or your game management.

I love a lesson on driver. They seem hard to find.
I’ve had initial lessons on chipping and irons but haven’t really got on on the driver. Anyone in Baton Rouge worth it?

What can I expect pricing wise? Standard clubs are ranging anywhere from 900-1300 and that’s kind of where I would like to be. I guess what I am trying to say is I really don’t want to pay 2000 for a 1300 set of clubs because they are “custom”

Golftec has gone straight down hill! All the good teachers Steve and Rob Murphy left it’s hot garbage now.
