Another way if you are just learning, if you're just hacking it left and right and hitting it into the shite constantly, at some point to keep pace with others in your group just pick it up and drop it greenside and finish with the others. You're not really keeping score anyway, you're in learning mode. Don't want to neglect learning greenside play.

I've played golf with lots of people. I have played with some who play the music too loud. I've also played with some who play none at all. I've yet to meet someone who had a problem with me playing my music. It's a respectable volume and good Pandora stations.
The couple of people i've met that did have an issue with it it was very clear they are very miserable people who need to not expose themselves to outside society.

By respectable volume do you mean only you can hear it while in your cart? If so I have no problem with that at all.

In Europe, you have to have a license to play golf.
Our courses are crowded enough that we probably need to do this in some parts of the USA.
It’s just a validation of minimal skills necessary to play the game without danger to self or others, and minimal skill documented on a 4 hole test with a pro present. I think it’s fairly easy. You have to shoot 5 or 6 over on 4 holes.

I don’t think they make it very difficult. it is more about understanding basic rules and how to play without undue delay.
I solved the 5 iron miss.
It was simple.
I don’t carry a 5 iron.

I'd say 80% of those I play with play music. I dont notice it when Im swinging. They keep it pretty low key though.

They were letting you play through.When you put it in the water on the 1st shot, you needed to just skip the hole for yourself and let your son finish if he was safe. They would have been fine with that. You hedged thinking you could stick one on the 2nd shot but you just made them question why they should let someone who sucks as bad as them play through. Guaranteed one or two of them said frick this guy, he sucks. Lesson…when you suck and someone allows you to play through, even if they also suck, take your shot. But when the stars don’t align for your shitty swing and miraculously give you that 1 in 8 good outcome, concede and drive by them to the next tee. Don’t even go get your out of bounds or water dunked ball. Just go and tell them thanks as you drive by.
