Golf and speakers

It's been going on for a while and can be a pain in the arse. If they keep the volume down so they can hear it but others can't it's ok. The problem is the drunk guys that blast crappy rap music so loud you can hear it 2 or 3 holes away.

I don't remember it at all pre covid. It's one of the main reasons I'm looking at private clubs. I mainly play as a single and it never fails I get paired up with some clowns that ask "mind if we play music" & I don't want to be an a-hole but it's annoying

ETA it's always bro type shite that you can hear from the tee box or green, would not mind at all if it was contained to their cart only

I like listening to music while I’m playing. I’m out there for 4 hours with my friends having a good time.

We keep the volume in the cart. From the cart to the green you can barely hear it.

I get that there are new players out there with zero etiquette that are ruining it for all of us, but I still like my music.

Meh, it's my only complaint honestly. I even it out by coughing or talking loudly in their backswing.

I'm the same way. I've never told anyone to stop playing music, but I'd rather play without it. I usually listen to music/podcasts to make something monotonous more enjoyable. Playing golf with my friends is my favorite thing to do. I don't need music to make it better. I'd rather hear the sounds of the course and be able to have a conversation.

I realize others do not feel this way, which is why I never complain out loud.

I'd take music on the course over a shitty AND slow person in front of me. If you're going to shank the ball ever other swing or overshoot the green on every hole, at least do it fast.

I'm decent but there are some days when everything goes against me. I shank it, or I hit the ground instead of the ball on a super easy chip shot 3 feet from the green and the ball moves a foot, or I can't drive the ball without slicing into trees (or houses lol). But you know what? I do it all FAST if someone is waiting on me. I'm always considerate on the course, probably so much so that my own game suffers from not taking my time, and it pisses me off when others in front of me play so slowly.

Just yesterday I was playing with my son at Pelican Point Lakes. There's a group of three guys probably in their 20s and one older man. They were slow, slow, slow. We waited on them to finish putting on #1 before we teed off. We played that hole and when we got to #2, they were just walking off the green (that's a super short par 3 hole). We play #2 and when we get to the teebox at # 3, they are only 1/4 of the way down the fairway so we had to wait. We waited for what was probably 15 minutes for them to finish the hole before we could even hit our 2nd shot.

We get to #4, a small par 3 again, and they are chipping onto the green. We sit in our cart at the tee box waiting and they look at us, waive us to play through. Finally, I thought, but it sucked that they sat there watching. Nothing adds pressure like a group of people watching you play through so they can resume playing, but I was just thankful that my son and I were going to finally get to play at our pace. I hit from the teebox and go into the water. frick! I hit again and overshoot the green.

At that point I was like "screw it, we're gonna just pass them up and go to #5 then replay this hole twice on the back 9".

They have no idea my plan to just skip the hole. As soon as I hit onto the other side of the green, they resume playing. Did they not know what allowing someone to play through means? I was flabbergasted that they were going to resume playing their hole as soon as I hit after they let me play through.

We skipped the hole and then it started raining so they left and we continued playing.

Some people infuriate me on the golf course.

I keep my speaker low enough that you cant hear it 50 feet away

While I would normally just get out of your way to allow you to finish before playing through, I could see them thinking to just proceed with some of their chips and mark their balls while you were driving to the green. There's really no point to it since they would have to wait for you to tee off and hit your second shot on the next hole, but I could still see that line of thinking.
