Is there anything out there that shows how the roll back affects different swing speeds? ex. how much distance is lost for 100 mph vs 80 mph vs 115 mph etc.

I only encounter the ball flying to far when I lay up to a hazard.
For me, it happens most offend out of green-side bunkers. That needs to be dialed back big time.

The effect on distance for recreational players will likely be less, but could be proportional. So that if a tour player loses five percent (or 15 yards on a 300-yard drive), then a recreational player might lose that same five percent on a 225-yard drive (or roughly 11 yards). And the same golfer likely would lose a similar percentage on his or her approach shots.

I dont like this. There are a LOT of below average length players on the PGA. This seems like it will make it even harder for them.

Seems it should be the opposite.

Golf partner: “How far can you hit a 60 degree wedge?”
Golfer: “170-175ish?”
Golf partner: “That’s beyond tour average.”
Golfer: “I know. Unfortunately, I’m doing that out of a green side bunker.”

It’s amazing that I can deloft a wedge to almost zero degree loft. The heft of the bladed wedge creates elite ball speed. Smash factor about 1.5.

Strangely, some topped shots work out. I’ve actually holed out for eagle twice on rabbit killers.

5-10 yards is the speculation.

I predict they will sell 2 types of balls (if the market insists). Conforming & non-conforming. IE: 2 types of “ProV1”

Someone tell me how this will impact my maxfli tour x balls.

I don’t give a damn if they’re conforming or not.

Don’t think so because they are reducing the max distance of the ball while increasing the swing speed so in essence the clubs will be limited as well if they are “too hot”

I could see OEM's tinkering with face tech, etc. We are seeing the current tech with current balls. If the balls change, then that may open the door for tech advancement as the balls will respond differently.

If they produce Maxfli Tour X ball to Conforming specs, it will fly 5-10 yards less (estimated distance).

Meh. I think it’s dumb but it won’t change a lot for my game.

I guess my question is what does 5-10 yards per shot change for the pro game? These guys are still going to overpower places like royal Liverpool whether they hit it 315 or 325.

What is going to stop certain smaller companies from making balls as they are now and not complying with any rules so that they increase market share?

That’s a fair point too. A company like vice doesn’t get much play on tour anyway, why do they need to comply with this?

I think it's the same reason you don't see chippers everywhere on public courses. Nobody is playing a tournament round, but they don't use a chipper because it's non confirming. I assume that is correct. Now that I have typed it, I'm not sure.

They also make balls that go straight every time, but the vast majority don't use them because they want to play by the rules.

This is dumb.

All the weekend warriors I've talked to have been begging to not hit the ball as far as they do so they can move up to the 5,800 yard tees instead of playing the 6,300 yard tees. Glad this is finally coming to fruition.

I agree. I think it’s ridiculous. They are the intent is to penalize players who imo work their arse off to become the long hitters. I would assume the faster your ball speed, the more distance it may effect. Average golfers may not be affected as much as we think.

LINK !

You can use a chipper. It can’t have 2 striking surfaces which takes out the xe747 punch out club which revolutionized the game with camel toe technology.

A chipper can’t have a putter grip either.
