Why isn't there an Open World, 1st person, Forgotten Realms/Dragonlance RPG?

Not an MMO, frick MMORPGs
I mean Elder Scrolls can do it, and they generate the lore as they develop. . .
An Realms or Dragonlance game comes prepackaged with all the depth and lore you can handle.
Why no attempt to make it happen?

If I could get missions from Sturm or Kitiara and fight Raistlin or whatever I would lose it. Would be awesome

It’d be harder to include micro transactions

I imagine the Dragonlance ship has sailed. Old folks like me would be all over it, but I don't know how many teens-to-twenties have ever read the books or even heard of them.

Neverwinter is the closest thing. It's set in the Sword Coast (Forgotten Realms) and finally makes the jump to D&D 5th Edition in 2 weeks.
It incorporates quite a few recent D&D Campaigns:
-Tyranny of Dragons
-The Storm King's Thunder
-Curse of Strahd
-Elemental Evil
-Tomb of Annihilation
-Rage of Demons
The next update makes the game jump to 5e and starts the Waterdeep Campaign with Undermountain (Lair of the Mad Mage)
Many of the R.A. Salvatore Characters (Drizzt, Bruenor, Rigel, Wulfgar, Catti-Brie, Elminster, etc) play significant roles in the story which is set hundreds of years after the Spellplague.

There's several PC games that are isometric RPGs. Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2. Icewind Dale 1 and 2.
Nothing very recent though. It's a bit of a gamble, but I would love to see more games in those settings.

Yeah, I know.
I am talking about a first person open world.
Like Fallout did from 2 to 3

You mean a single-player game? (when I first saw this I was thinking MMO, but then actually read your post)
That's a good question. BioWare really screwed the pooch on this years ago when they put out Neverwinter Nights (the revamp, not the MMO from AOL) as a Diablo-style 3rd-person view. All of the subsequent D&D-based titles were the same and due to their popularity it pretty much set the standard for how "modern" D&D video games would look.
Like so many things in life, people are far less reluctant to emulate things that have worked well thus far rather than trying to so something new.

Not really
They basically transferred Runescape into an RS3. So everything leading up to that is stuck in RS3.
Then in 2012, I think they came out with Old school Runescape which is basically 2007 runescape with updates

Even though it's an MMO, I like Neverwinter for quite a few reasons:
1. There isn't a single group event (Dungeons are 3-person content, epic dungeons and Skirmishes are 5-person content and Epic Trials are either 10 or 25 person content) that takes more than 30 minutes to complete.
2. You can get very close to maxed out without spending a single real dollar if you're patient.
3. The campaigns, while time-consuming, can be solo'ed if you do them at the right time.
